Re: External Hard Drives
get one with both eSATA and USB2.0
at least 500gig OTB is a good feature. WD IMO makes the best ones.

Re: External Hard Drives
I recently got a WD Mybook for like $79 on sale. It only has like 300 something gigs, but I really don't have that much stuff I need to back up. I got this one just like Ddog said, because it has both USB and eSATA, since I bought a motherboard that has eSATA.
Only downside right now is it didn't come with an eSATA cable, and I haven't gotten around to getting one yet. I only add stuff 2 it once a month or so, so USB is working fine for now. Look at the reviews on newegg, and the WD are pretty tops. Of course you could also just buy a HD and a cheap enclosure and make your own.

Re: External Hard Drives
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822216040
uses a WD7500AAKS drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822216041 same company... known to use WD drives yours looks to be pretty good too. I don't think any of them would be a bad choice.

Re: External Hard Drives
Kin,
You can easily put together your own external drive. Just buy the enclosure and a drive. I did that myself and used: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817173040 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148151 If you go this route (or even if you buy) make sure you get an enclosure with a good fan. I agree with the other comments, if your board has an ESATA get a drive that supports it (works faster than USB). |

Re: External Hard Drives
some of the prebuilt ones are cheaper than buying separately.
I put together my own, but it would have been just as cheap to buy them together.... the difference is I know exactly the drive I have before I buy.
