TRM maps

Hey all,

I was wondering what everyone else thought of this idea.

I know a lot of the TRM maps are cool and fun, but some of the regular maps have a good quality to them. I wanted to know: 1) Is it possible to run a stock map on the TRM server, and if so... 2) Can we put Strike and Overgrown in, and maybe the new ones that are coming out soon?

The rest are too small to put in, and the others would stink with that mod me thinks.

Just curious.

Thanks!

Re: TRM maps

Not a bad idea actually, because sometimes there are about a million and one different places to snipe from in the TRM mod and i get really sick of it sometimes. Where as in the regular server running regular maps, there are no secret spots.

Ah but that is the challenge, the uncertainty of whether you will live or die without knowing the secret spot. Makes you value your life more.

Re: TRM maps

I hate snipers. All snipers should die from a blackjack to the side of the head. (From me)

But if you are to snipe, I agree that it is really cool to have dozens of places to do it from and that the opponents should have to work to get you and not just be able to noob tube a predictable location and kill you every time.

Bigger and more complex maps are just plain better.

This is the fundamental problem I am having with the vanilla server. We are raming 18 guys into a spot that was made for at the very most 16 players and preferably 8 players.

IMO the vanilla could be restricted down to 14 or 16 players and we could fill the TRM server much more. It just feels like we are putting a round peg into a square hole. Airstrikes and choppers are sorta silly too, especially on these smaller maps. The whole idea of an airstrike being called in for one or two guys or on the deck of a ship is just crazy and not at all tactical or realistic. These maps were to represent skirmishes betwixt small groups of special forces in various locales around the globe. Here we are forcing more than twice as many troops into the mix and throwing the whole concept askew. All of these maps play radically different in a, say, 6 V 6 format. Things are much more squad like and folks seem to do far less stupid stuff because you do not want to let your team down. Heck, you could even do a fairly tactical TDM with 6 V 6 or 5 V 5.

Hopefully, the new map pack includes many more bigger maps with lots of cover.

Gameplay has once again changed drastically in the last few days. I am not saying it is good or bad. That is something for all of us to work out, I suppose. I see several admins with extreme conditioning running as far as they can forward on some maps and going where they probably should not be and veteran players and admins going to flank as soon as the attack is called out on one side (which could be a diversion). Maybe the rules aren't as clear as we think they are. They seemed pretty clear to me.

I liked the play on the TRM the other night although there were still a few guys that were several hundred yards beyond any immediate chokepoint within 30 secs of the map starting, which is in-excusable according to the new rules, and annoying.

Re: TRM maps

I guess my thought on this was that it would be nice to get 1 or 2 maps everyone knew to play on this mod.

Re: TRM maps

Join the TRM server and you can run free on the maps and get used to them.
