Lightbulb What can we do to help Fetterman

Guys, Counter suggested, that we should help Fetterman.

Why don't we help Fetterman?

I do not have the understanding or the wherewithal to get anything going, but we should help him instead of sitting here on our butts.

How do we proceed?

Re: What can we do to help Fetterman

Check out his website. Get his resume. Maybe we can get him a job? Looks like he's a nice guy, but it would be interesting to see his qualifications.

Re: What can we do to help Fetterman

Thanks for the thought, but there is no need for this we will get by somehow.

I don't have any qualifications, I am stupid. All I really done is dairy farm work and build my own computers and take photographs of things I find interesting. And like John Ratzenberger {Cliff Clavin} of "cheers fame" I'm full of tidbits of useless info like the thrust to weight ratio of a Pilatus PC-12.
I do have three websites, the one at godaddy is crap, their website templet design thingy really sucks and I don't know HTML. That one expires in three weeks and I don't care. My domain name via godaddy is good till 2011. The other two sites I got last year are though 1&1 web hosting, they were a little cheaper, not much though. But very easy for new stupid folks like me to get going and have a small photo gallery online.

I don't work anymore due to medical reasons which I will not get into except to say it has to do with my heart and colon cancer.

Ah that really sucks. Cancer is the worst of all things. Fortunately! Modern medicines can help, which is good. At least its not AIDS

Re: What can we do to help Fetterman

Fetterman, I wish you well and a quick 'back on your feet,' of course. It's really good to see people rallying to offer support of all kinds to a fellow TGer when he's a bit low.

I don't know about any precedent for something like this in the forums here, but at the very least, you should all proceed with a very strong awareness of people's personal privacy and dignity- at the very least, do not post anyone's names/address/telephone numbers or similar personal info here in a forum on the internet. Maybe someone should take the process over via PMs or a TS session- that might be a good way to gauge the situation, and lead to a better way to support a friend. Let me know if I can help with any ideas for organization, and I'll bring this thread to the attention of the right guys to see if there's anything else that should be considered.

In the meantime, stay tough, Fetterman. You've got some good buddies here.

Re: What can we do to help Fetterman

I just want to second Khaerus' points above and clarify: I talked to BeSeige about this beforehand, but will reiterate: this kind of thing, while admirable and good, must only be discussed in the broadest terms here in forum. Details, actual plans, and organization of anything for anyone--a pastie-clad birthday cake girl for COUNTER=OPS at his home, for example--must be done outside of a public forum.

The one thing we don't want to do is make anyone feel like they can't take care of themselves and need their buddies from online to help them out. Fetterman is a big boy, and has been making his way in the world longer than most of us, so respect is due, and something called DISCRETION.

A gift from friends is a welcome thing--a charity drive when you don't need one can be seen as an insult.

Anything we do for each-other in RL should be done out of friendship and respect, not pity or assuming something we shouldn't.

In BeSeige's defense, lest anyone should think otherwise, his intentions were purely out of concern and friendship, and solidly in a generous spirit of showing a brother he cares. So as long as we maintain respect, discretion and privacy, I say we chip in a nd get him one of those dashboard hula girls to go on his monitor. Who isn't cheered up by a dashboard hula girl?!

Dang, I feel better already myself! That's one U'i wahine, koa!

Re: What can we do to help Fetterman

I would never want anyone to post in a public forum anyone's address. Of course this would have to be through PM.

As for the cake thing A><is,,,,You know I like beef jerky and vodka!

Typing in pain,,,

I knew where besieged was coming form. his heart was in the right place.
But fellows/gals thank you all for wanting to help, but I will get though this on my own.

Now stop worrying about me and go back to shooting someone or blowing something up in 2142/PR.
