Re: New Rig Done

you on a 64 bit OS? If not those 4 gigs of ram are just wasted. I think vista 32 has a max of 3.25 gb including video memory (not sure about if it includes the vid memory, too lazy to google.) Dunno about xp but i'm guessing xp is less or about the same. Also, video memory isn't important once you're past 256mb. What actual card is it? Clock speeds, memory interface, mem bandwidth, etc... are what matter.

Re: New Rig Done

did you build it your self and if so, how much did it cost?

i am thinking of a slow piece by piece upgrade, starting with a quadcore mo-bo, then running my current vid, ram and sound untill i can afford new stuff.

Re: New Rig Done

I'm surprised you can play bf2 without any maintenance. My bro is running on dual core, and he had to manually turn off one, because of compatibility, but i'm real happy for you man, one day i hope to up this pile, with a few gigs of ram too.

Pssshhh, my computer is WAY slower than yours.....

Does that make me have an overabundance of "1337-sauce"?

Depends on what res you play... 1920x1080 surely can use more than 256MB .

Could you give us the full specs Cougar?

Mobo?
RAM?
Quad Core what? Intel, AMD?
Vid card?

I 'm just interested as I 'm soon to upgrade myself. Thinking about a Gigabyte DSR3 and a Quad Q9450.

Looking forward to playing Fools Road with more than 10fps.

GeForce 8800gtx @620MHz
4 gig 6400 corsair running 1:1 with the FSB
Mobo: Asus P5NT WS (a workstation mobo, sometimes they give better clock/stability ratio for the money thats why i use it.)

Re: New Rig Done

Quick question for those running the Q6600's; What temp are your rigs running at idle and full load? I've got a water cooling setup on mine that peaks at 33C under full load. I'm just wondering how much it's cooling over the stock fans and if it's even worth it.
