Re: Vista Update Just Released

I started up my computer just a few minutes ago and got the update info for my network drivers, Defender and one other. I believe it was the one you mentioned. I had to restart for it to apply. Defender and the network never has to do that any other time. You just got ahead of the game instead of the updates coming to you.
I also double checked after seeing this and there was no more, so I musty have got it.

Re: Vista Update Just Released

I was met this morning with a 5 minute countdown to reboot. this is the first time I have seen vista force a reboot if you don't cancel it on updating. usually it just leaves the prompt up until you respond to it.

Re: Vista Update Just Released

I did not have to reboot, and the update did not take very long at all

Re: Vista Update Just Released

I have my updates set to let me know about them but not to download or install them. I want a little control over what and when they are downloaded and installed.

Re: Vista Update Just Released

I have mine set the same way, but it will really only notifie you of critical updates I think. I still check about 2X a week, and about 40% of the time, there is an update or 2.

Edit:
So just for the hell of it I decided to check right now, and surprise, there is an update for Windows Defender.

Re: Vista Update Just Released

Ha, I was finished gaming last night and had the update reminder in the task bar for Defender but before I started playing I did a manual check and there was nothing.
