Short Movie Competition -- submit your entry!
What's all this then?
A short movie competition -- you make a quick movie about BF2142 and submit it. People vote for their favourite movie and the winner gets an awesome prize! What kind of a movie should I make? The movie should prominently feature Battlefield 2142 gameplay. Beyond that -- strive for wit, humor, cleverness, "wow" moments, and most anything that would cause a person to vote for your movie. Remember, the best movie is decided by popular vote. Neat, how to I enter? Post your final product in this thread! When you've completed recording, editing, exporting, and uploading your movie, post in this thread the relevant information. Please use this format for your formal submission: <Forum/Ingame name> - <Title of the movie> - youtube link (This thread is not just for submissions -- feel free to comment on people's movies and your own but remember that a formal voting thread will come after the submission deadline.) Any rules? 1. The movie cannot be longer than 60 seconds. Short and sweet please! 2. Nothing illicit or immature. Just use common sense here please: the aim is to show people something interesting, to make them laugh or to make them think -- not to offend or disgust them. 3. Please don't showcase un-TG-like gameplay unless it's clearly a joke or for fun. Jokes and funny videos are definitely encouraged -- we just don't want to see you bunnyhopping with RDX or something like that. 4. The best movie will be picked by popular vote. 5. The TG logo must be prominently featured somewhere at the start of the movie. 7. In the description of the video on youtube, make sure you have the text: "Submitted in the TacticalGamer BF2142 Short Movie Competition." -- this is just to discourage cheating. 6. The submission deadline is June 19th, 2008, two weeks from now. What do I get if my movie wins? An awesome prize so magical and breath-taking that even the utterance of its name would cause your eyes to pop out, your head to become bald, and your voice to gain four octaves. (Actually, just bragging rights.) But I don't know how to make a movie ![]() There are plenty of threads on the subject already on the TG BF2 and BF2142 forums, but the process boils down to this: 1. Install FRAPS or wegame. 2. Launch the game and join a server. Press the specific key to start recording your gamepaly. 3. When done, press the key again and leave the game. 4. Use a movie editor like Windows Movie Maker to cut clips, split them, add captions, pictures, music and other fun things. 5. When you're done, export your movie and upload it to youtube. Submission deadline is June 19th, 2008! Good luck!

ThaDoctah - "Danger Zone"
ionpig-A's take on 8th gunship piloting, captured and produced by myself http://files.filefront.com/Danger+Zo.../fileinfo.html Alternative compressed archive: http://dodownload.filefront.com/1055...429e99443d04d0 Note: The file is archived to a *.rar file. To uncompress this particular file please use WinRAR. It is a fantastic archiving tool that has gained popularity over the years and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Re: Short Movie Competition -- submit your entry!
I must say that I love Doc's video, the production value there is just amazing, perfect soundtrack, timing. It's worth the download and unzip until he gets it on youtube.
PS does anyone know how to grab a youtube video in a usable format? I want to submit my APC suicide video but it's too long as it stands now, but I could definately edit it down to under 60 sec. For some reason I can not locate the original file. Link for anyone that wants to help me out.

Re: Short Movie Competition -- submit your entry!
Bwhaha, Doc, you had me rolling. Great video.
Catman, there's a multitude of Firefox addons that'll let you rip movies off youtube and other media sites. I can't recommend a recent one but I'm sure you'll find it with a quick google search. Edit: Catman, McLovin -- don't worry too much about the length of the movie. The aim was to keep the movies short and sweet but you won't be disqualified if you're off by a little bit. Submit what you've got, it's good enough. The shorter the movies are, though, the more likely people are to watch them to the end and vote for them.

ThaDoctah -- "Danger Zone"
Finally uploaded to Youtube with slight textual additions. (Therefore slightly different from the previous versions of the video) This is the final final version and that's final. Enjoy!

Re: Short Movie Competition -- submit your entry!
The plethora of SFX was the defining feature of the movie I think. There's so many of them and they're just a pretty funny mix. Good job!
