View Full Version : TGU: 2142: Basic Engineer Kit Course May 9, 2009 1:00 PM EST

Arithea
04-28-2009, 05:13 PM
DATE AND TIME: Saturday, May 9, 2009 1:00 PM EST

Players will be required for TeamSpeak roll call in the TGU channel 30 minutes before the module.
Anyone who is not present 10 mins before the scheduled start time will be counted as absent and will be disallowed from participating in the next module run for the game in which the module was missed.

Module Name: Basic Engineer Kit Course
Prerequisite: Basic Infantry
Instructor: |TG-3rd| Arithea

What not to post:
"What time will it be in my time zone?" Work it out.
"Are non-supporting members allowed to participate?" Yes. However, supporting members get priority.
"It's not fair! I keep getting pushed out by Supporting Members!" Become one.
"Can you change the date?" No, the date is confirmed.
"I'm on the reserve list. How good are my chances of playing if I show up?" Decent. There'll inevitably be a few cancellations before the session and there can be one or two no-shows on the day of the session.

Quick Session Information
Date: May 3, 2009
Time: 1:00 PM EST
Be on Teamspeak By: 12:30 PM EST
Estimated Duration: 1 hour
Server: IP/Password Given in Teamspeak
Module: Basic Engineer Kit Course
Number of Students: 16
Credit badge: http://www.mynameisalexander.com/TG/Pins/Engineer%20Kit%20Pin%20silver.png

Ground Rules:
CHECK FIRE! Once on the server, hold your fire until specifically instructed to do so. This is very important so that your instructor can address everyone without background noise of weapons fire or explosions.
Listen to your instructor and follow their directions. It is important that everyone listen to the instructor and be ready to follow instructions so that the material in the module can be covered in a timely manner. The more the instructor has to be off-topic the longer the module will take to complete.
Minimize Com Chatter. Questions are greatly encouraged as part of the learning process, but many people may have questions at once. If you have a question or comment, simply type a request such as "question" or "comment" in the in-game chat and your instructor will call on you and let you have the com when they are able.

How Spots Are Assigned:
The first priority will be given to Supporting Members above non-Supporting Members. After that, People who have attended a TGU Basic Infantry course over those who have not. People who haven't attend a Basic Infantry course are allowed to sign up but will not be awarded a badge until they passed or are written off by a instructor.

A reserve list will be made up when all the playing spots are filled. Supporting members, once again, have priority. When a player with a spot cancels, they will be replaced by the first person on the reserve list.

How to Sign Up
IMPORTANT!
Players who no-show without notice for a session will be precluded from participating in the following session for the game where they were absent. Don't let your team mates down! Only sign up if you can make it. Because class spaces are limited, please don't take a spot unless you're confident you can play.

To sign up, please simply reply with the following two items of information:
1) In house squad (unaffiliated if none)
2) Your in-game name.

Please reply to this message with the above information if you wish to sign up.
Players will be signed up on a first-come first-served basis.
Supporting Members get precedence in the order they sign up, then Non-Supporting Members afterwards. Your SM status at the time of signup determines which list you will be on. Once you post, you cannot become a SM later to work your way up the list.
You can pull out, but if you reconfirm, you will find yourself at the bottom of the roster.
You may not hand over your spot to another specific player. Your spot will be given to the next available player.

Edit: My bad, I didn't notice the 'basic infantry' prerequisite. Is that definitely required?

Same thing here, any change that basic infrantry could be made on friday / afterwards?! O.O?!

To answer your questions on the basic infantry course:

How Spots Are Assigned:
The first priority will be given to Supporting Members above non-Supporting Members. After that, People who have attended a TGU Basic Infantry course over those who have not. People who haven't attend a Basic Infantry course are allowed to sign up but will not be awarded a badge until they passed or are written off by a instructor.

Thus, if you haven't had the basic infantry course, you may still sign up and take this course; however, you may not wear the pin for it until you've passed basic infantry. This goes for all courses listing basic infantry as a prerequisite. Also, priority will be given to those who have had basic infantry if the course fills up, but it's not looking like we'll be pressed for slots.

Just as a question, what is the "quick session" have to do with the May 9th date?

StormTAG
04-30-2009, 01:15 AM
Of course the TGU starts new classes just as my machine eats itself. *rage rage rage*

Are you guys allowing auditors to come and listen on TS?

Arithea
04-30-2009, 10:41 AM
Sorry to hear that, Storm! :( You're welcome to come listen in, if you'd like, but you won't get course credit until you can actually participate.

@ BeSiege: Nice catch! I totally typo'ed the date under the quick info. I can't edit the post, but the date bolded and in red at the top of the post is correct--May 9th.

Shows how well the rest of you read the signup info...:p

I could use some work on my Engineering skills.

Question though, Do we need specific unlocks for this class? This is my first time taking a TGU class so I just want to clarify.

You do not need specific unlocks for this class. If we're using a weapon or item you don't have unlocked, we'll arrange for you to kill someone who has it and take their kit.

I've sent out a PM to those who've already signed up, but the date for this course will have to change. I just found out I'm needed to help out with a fencing tournament this coming Saturday. Possible new dates are Sunday, May 10 (also Mother's Day) or Saturday, May 16. I'll update this thread with new date information as it becomes available.

16Note

If there's still space, I might be able to make this.

Okay, new dates are as follows:

Sunday, May 10 1:00 PM EST--Note that this is also Mother's Day in the US.
Saturday, May 16 1:00 PM EST

I've split it out into two dates to accommodate those who signed up prior to my scheduling conflict. From here on out, please post your available date so that we can get a head count for each day. Thanks!

Thanks Arithea, it's very kind of you to offer to run the course on both dates.

Thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday's session of the course! Remember, if you missed it, there will be another session this coming Saturday, the 16th, at 1:00 PM EST. Signups are still open if you're interested. For those who attended yesterday, watch the forums here (http://www.tacticalgamer.com/tactical-gamer-university/98656-official-class-completion-notification-3.html#post1266210) for your class completion notification.

I don't have basic infantry, but I have advanced infantry. I guess this counts! ;-)

Arithea

There is definitely still room! Thanks for signing up! However, as basic infantry is a prerequisite for the basic engineer kit course, you won't be able to wear the badge for it until you've had basic infantry. You'll still get credit for completing it, though, and as soon as you finish the basic infantry course, you'll be able to slap that badge on, as well.

This was probably my most enjoyable TGU class ever. The size was small enough to be managable and the topic was one I was not as familier with as some others.

Thanks for running it, Thea!

Excellent class, didn't have huge exceptions for basic engineering as I'm somewhat into it but this rocked like all TGUs so far :)

I was so shocked when that MM bait fell during cease fire! Jakeel had to drop that one mine and make it even worse >.<
