The geographic area in which JO's fictional battles take place is currently, in "real life," suffering the aftermaths of a 9.0 earthquake that generated a massive tsunami. At this moment, Monday morning pacific time, the death toll is up to 22,000 and rising. Members of multiple armed forces, amongst other organizations, are responding to provide aid. Hopefully, the rebel militias in these areas will set aside their weapons for now and also help out if they can.

If you're a praying kinda person, prayers for the fallen and those who will sometimes be taking great risks to rescue survivors are in order. And if you can take the $5 you might spend on some luxury today and donate it to one of the relief efforts, that would be an honorable and admirable thing to do. Doctors Without Borders, www.doctorswithoutborders.org, and the Red Cross, www.redcross.org, are just two of the many agencies on the scene.
