Just got AA

Im new, i just got AA 2.3 and was wondering if a few basic things i can learn to help get ahead in the game...

My Stats:
User Name: Black_V!per
E-Mail Address: blackviper909(at)XXXXXXXXl.net
Group: Normal User
Experience: 20048
Honor: 22
Experience Required For Next Level: 2452
Marksmanship Score: 36

And i just started??? Wow!!! No i got an account from a friend, he was starting over and was going to delete the account, so i took it off his hands for him, hes new account is already at 13 Honor.

All Training is done, i was going to go thru it again to get a feel for the game.

Re: Just got AA

It wouldn't hurt to go through the training again but most of it is pointless, unless you're new to first person shooters, then it would probably be a good idea. Here are some 'must know's'...

The first thing you need to do is work out the difference between the OPFOR (enemy) and you're team. Some maps have your team mates wearing the same kit, other maps have 2 different kits. If you kill a team mate, you will loose a lot of points, keep doing it and you'll loose honour - so learn what the enemy look like first, even if it means you taking a shot.

The second thing is to know the map. This is true in any game and personally I hate having to have map familiarity. Knowing the map means you should know the likely areas people throw nades in, the sniper spots, the attacking spots, etc. When you know the map like the back of your hand, you have a big advantage. A good map to start with is Brifge Crossing - it's pretty easy to learn. Stick to 1 or 2 maps at first (pipeline is another cool map) and learn those, then start expanding out. Just remember that a server can only run 1 map - there is no rotation so if you want to play another map, you'll need to find another server.

When in game take your time, be careful and understand when you have to move quickly. Double-clicking the move button should make you sprint, or use the sprint key. As for keybinds, make sure you learn all the action/movement ones. Radio commands are pretty pointless, except the 'U' key. This tells your squad where you are (in fact you are "reporting in" but it's only useful to you when you know the map lol - however use it because other players do know the map and it may stop you receiving friendly fire).

If you can get on the teamspeak server here and team up with a buddy. Working together can be a lot more fun if you're the team orientated type.

Any Q's just ask, welcome to TG

Thumbs down Re: Just got AA

Hmmm... I'm kinda hung up on the 'got this account from my friend' thing. The whole idea of the training, and then subsequent experience increase is to give players goals. Just 'acquiring' a fluffed honor rating is cheating in my view, especially if you're going to go through the training *anyway.* I mean, why do the training now? Just want the high honor so you can play the SF maps or sport the M4? I think it's better to *earn* them... the acheivement is so much more satisfying when you can actually play the game at the level you're 'rated' at. That's the point of the AA system.

Re: Just got AA

There are no maps at present that I've found that require anything than 9 honour points of higher to play on. The servers are screwed with this 15 honour thing going on. I've played SF maps that should require (or used to require the honour) which is strange. I thought they were having problems with the servers at the mo.

As for cheating, I think that's a little harsh. The "training" is pointless

"Go low and slow and you'll get a go.."

But sadly no points for crap poetry lol - and it's pointless, the whole thing. You never use stealth on the maps, try jumping out a plane - uh what plane? Only one map has a plane and quite frankly, do I need to do anything once I jump - seems no matter what I do I land anyway?

Instead they should have got people jumping a lot when they got shot at. Also the training is far too easy, and doesn't stop anyone from playing. As for goals, it seems to me the only goal in this game is to run and gun. There is nothing to aim for in this game other than enjoyment - it would be nice if we could get a proper team working together with a proper plan, that should be a goal but it never happens.

Re: Just got AA

Like i said, my friend was just going to let the account go to waist. So i took it off his hands. Its not like its that much honor anyway, i was playing the other night on a training map and had the lowest honor/skill...

I think getting familiar to these maps is going to be hard... There big!!! Its nothing like what im used to... NS and BF1942...

Anyway, thanks for ur help. That friend of mine was over today and we played a few maps, but the honor system was screwed up and everyone had 15 honor... So i wasnt hurting anything with all my bad ROE, -220 eeeks...

Re: Just got AA

The maps aren't really that big (try OFP or JO lol), one thing you could do is find an empty server with a mate and then just go walking the map. You need 2 people on a server otherwise the round ends about 30 seconds after you start it.

Re: Just got AA

Yeah that is the best advice, go on an empty server and learn the map. You could also load a map yourself and walk around without the hassle of someone joining. This is what I usually do. I or someone else here could tell you how to do this if interested. Also the new Server Manager that came with 2.3 makes it easy to set up a server on your own IP and you can invite your bros to join on. Makes it a more relaxed atmosphere for learning.

Re: Just got AA

Hey Jex, I'd love to, but I'm rolling out of town for the weekend. We can set something up for next week though.

Re: Just got AA

yeah sure thing. Probably have to be a w/end thing as I'm in the UK, but it would be great to get a little tactical force going. If we can get enough for one fireteam (i.e one Team leader, one GL'er, one AR and one R) then we could work on some tactics (laying down support fire, fire and movement, etc) - could be good fun

Re: Just got AA

Well hell yeah... if we can get a real tactical unit together, count me in. I'll keep my eyes open for when.

Re: Just got AA

Yea AA is a great game that I have been playing for over 2 years now. The best maps to play to learn the rope are the little ones sudt as IC, hqraid, UA a new map but small with a lot of ins and outs this is also a fast paced map. Like the other guys said just get with a friend and team up is going to be the best way no mater what map your on!
