computer crash (*arg!*)

my computer would sometimes crash and restart...i just hate that cuz it's simply annoying and you often fear that your work/game would be lost...

anybody know the solution to that problem other than bashing my computer to its death and getting a new one?

PS: i'm not kidding, i'm really having this problem myself.

Details....

What OS? Have you been doing the OS updates? Whats the CPU? What kind of motherboard, RAM & Video? If you don't know, what company is the system and what model number?

Are you over clocking or have you ever overclocked this system? Have you added any new hardware latly? Was there anything new done just before this started happening?

You say it crashes at idle... does it crash when playing games or when the system is taxed? How good is the cooling in the case?

here is my thoughts on the crash and restart... (with little to no info on the situation)... your computer is actually giving you the equivelant of a BSOD (blue screen of death). this means that 1) you have installed a driver or program that has made the computer unstable.... try a system restore to when it was working correctly. 2) some hardware is failing or overheating. take the cover off the computer and see if this helps.
