CS:S buffer overrun detected!

I cannot open up CS:s or HL2:dm. I get an error thats says

"buffer overrun detected!"
program: c:\programfiles\steam\steam.exe

The error says that the error has corrupted the programs internal state and that the program (steam.exe) must be closed.

I tried to reinstall cs:s but I still get the same error. I can however open up hl2 and all of my hl1 mods. I have no idea how to fix this problem and I need help.

The error was made by microsoft visual c++ runtime library I think if that helps.

thanks guys

Re: CS:S buffer overrun detected!

I just checked and there were two threads that lead to dead ends. This is what my error looks like http://img11.imagevenue.com/img.php?...2_dm_error.JPG.

Not sure about the C++ error, but I get the bottom error since the last update (prior to last nights). All that talk of mount made me think linux had snuck onto my pc when I wasn't looking.
