in-game voicecomms

I've had spotty results.

The default 'b' key allows you to talk only to other members of your squad.

The default 'v' key allows you to talk only to the commander.

Pressing 'b':
- If you have no squad, you'll see nothing on the screen.
- If you lead an otherwise empty squad, you'll see a green icon and no one will hear anything.
- If you're one of multiple people in a squad, you'll see a green icon and your squad will hear you.
Pressing 'v':
- If you have no commander, you'll see nothing on the screen.
- If you have a commander, you'll see a yellow icon and your commander alone will hear you.
At least, that's how I think it's SUPPOSED to work, and I know for a fact that's how it has worked SEVERAL TIMES, but I've also been left to believe (amidst the chaos of battle and my counter-tester not necessarily understanding what's going on) SOMETIMES that it HASN'T worked that way (the italicized text above).

When it does work, I find that, even when I have 'receive' volume turned all the way up in-game, I still have a hard time hearing people (as opposed to TS, which comes in loud and clear over the game).

Someone correct the above if I'm wrong, but... what's the deal? Is it just spotty?

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

My 'Connect to/using IP' dialog shows a port number below the IP and above the password fields.. or it has before.. don't know if it does it every time.

Also, I know that, when I'm looking at the "loading connection" screen, the many server attributes (ff, mapname, etc) displayed includes the server IP, which is always, on this screen, followed by ":0" (read "port zero", not "omg haha!!!").

Does this play a role in whether or not voicecomms work?

Also Wyz you need to be a squad leader in order to talk to your commander.

Re: in-game voicecomms

I used voicecomms today with Yer Mom and it felt like he was right next to me. They've done a top-notch job with the voicecomms in this game. I still don't know if their unreliability is a problem with the demo or the persons playing it.

I can't WAIT to play this at MML.

Re: in-game voicecomms

I would imagine so. I dont think anyone last night who was actually trying to use voicecomm was IN a squad, so logically it gave off the appearance of not working on our server. Now I think people are beginning to understand a bit better. Wyzcomm ftw!
