Unhappy TK Bug Apology Thread & Lag Correlation

I had the rare pleasure of playing at U.S. peak time last night (Aussie morning) despite a wicked hangover on Sunday morning.

Although we got raped by the USMC, I had a great time on a strong Chinese squad with asch (Dragon Valley).

Then, things went pear-shaped...

I committed no less than four teamkills on squadmates who clearly showed up as red in my HUD. Needless to say, I felt like quite the idiot and had to disconnect for fear of becoming a liability. Note that I was not auto-kicked for some reason.

A distinct example is when I shot Raub in the back on a hill in the Oilfields map (he wasn't happy). I checked my squad make-up and he wasn't showing as part of my squad. The kill messages at the top left did not show it as a TK, but as a legitimate enemy kill (E.G: |TG|Bommando [WeaponType] Raub).

One thing I noticed was that while my ping was low and I was experiencing no lag, everything was rosy. As soon as I started noticing more prominent lag, that's when the bug made the game unplayable.

Has anyone else noticed a correlation between this bug and lag? It rarely happens, but when it does, it undoes all of my previous good work. I hate looking the fool

This has happened several times to me, and I haven't noticed any correlation to lag.

Re: TK Bug Apology Thread & Lag Correlation

I think I've had something similar. On another server I killed my squad leader multiple times. I was surprised because even though I was running the objectives I never actually saw him. After the second time I tried to keep track of him on the map to avoid further screw ups but he just wasn't there. I searched the console and there were no TKs.

My latency was good and the server at least seemed stable. Maybe it has something to do with switching teams.

I took out a loaded APC a couple days ago, I felt horrible after that happened. It showed up as a enemy on my map and his name was red so I hit him with a TOW right in the rear. Nothing like 5 teamkills in one shot.

Enemies = Red.
Squadmates = Green.
Teammates = Blue.

No matter what team you are on, those are the colours. At least that's what they're supposed to be ...

There is no confusion, it's a *serious* bug. Plain and simple.

Regardless of the team you're on, your teammates are blue and the enemy is red. Always shoot red... unless of course you are experiencing one of the many defects of the game where teammates show up as red too.

It was great having you on the squad Bommando, along with the rest of our squadmates. It was a rough map since we went through three COs and half the game w/o one at all.

I have been trying to remember the names of the others, since the entire squad was skilled and a joy to play with. I must start writing down the names of proven team players, so I can find them in subsequent games.

It's really hard to get a consistent CO on the non-US sides for some reason. I usually step up for a couple of games, but also like a bit of groundwork.

That's what makes TG so great. You can lose a round overall, but teaming with a strong talkative squad can make it feel like a win.

Look forward to catching you and the others next time.

I always like having you along Bommando, even if you do shoot me in the back ;-)

Hey, you make it sound like I make a habit of it

It's been a while since we've been on the same squad, but it's always been good times. I always seem to come online when all the squads are full, so I end up having to create my own little Spec Op squad until I see an open slot. By then, my squad is full and I don't want to leave 5 guys in the lurch just to join up with another.

Re: TK Bug Apology Thread & Lag Correlation

No worries, it's a known bug. It was just happening at the worst time, we were getting whacked pretty good by the enemy, then I was getting whacked more by teammates

7. Criticism: [FDB]Raub, MEC FDB squad leader. For doing almost nothing constructive with your squad. I know, I joined it. You played as sniper, and never gave your squad orders or objectives or led them in almost any way. Go do that on the pubs, pls.

Thumbs up Re: TK Bug Apology Thread & Lag Correlation

Bommando.

You have proven to be a very effective CO! I'm sure everyone here understands your situation, and will forgive you for any TK's that result from circumstances that are not in your control, such as the "team color bug"! I personally have not seen this one yet, and I hope I never do...

Re: TK Bug Apology Thread & Lag Correlation

Yeah, this bug is really annoying and should (I hope) be a high priority fix for DICE. I've experienced it from both sides of the fence: being the bugged and killing the bugged.

One of my squad mates was the unfortunate victim of "the bug". I forget who it was, but I must've killed him at least four times in under half an hour. Luckily for me, he was very cool about it, forgave me, and laughed it off everytime. Still, I felt terrible. Whoever it was that I kept killing, sorry!

On the other side of the fence, immediately after I joined the server and set-up a C4 trap around a flag, I started getting shot from "somewhere". I look about frantically, wondering where the hell I was getting hit from. I see a friendly shooting in my direction, so I assume the enemy must be where he's facing. Before I can look, I die. After respawning, I check the spot he was shooting at... nobody. I reset the C4 trap and, as I'm walking away from it, I see a friendly buggy driving at full speed towards me. Naturally, I leap out of the way. Bewildered, I stand there looking at the friendly as he gets out of the buggy and opens fire. I'm strafing back and forth trying to dodge the bullets, wondering if I should shoot back. I die and, through team chat, ask why on earth my team is trying to kill me... then it dawns on me... I'm bugged. Thank goodness the map changed after 2 more minutes passed.
