Domination Mode (Mod)

This has hit the usual news sites like planetbattlefield etc., but a moder has released a server side patch that adds a new game mode called "Domination". This looks pretty interesting as definately my biggest pet peeve with vanilla BF is the circle capping that goes on. TG does a pretty good job of avoiding it, but on a server that isn't full this might be very nice.

Reminds me of Planetside! I like the idea, it would make massive frontlines and skirmishes. I think it could work very nicely on TG servers.

Maybe for 1 of the 3 servers to test it first?

I tried a server with it today, I think the server was called "Lenitz no tanks only infantry" or something like that. I was very different. You are being shot at almost all the time which makes it intense. The most promising thing about it, however is the possibility to arrange flanks much easier, since all players are working on the same flag

I fully understand why people would like this. I'm not sure I would enjoy it more than vanilla BF2. Depending on the setup if the map gets down to 1 or 2 choke points on a 64 player server that is going to be an EXTREMELY hard flag to cap. The fact that most flags are outside in the open area where you can be bombed to death quite easily by the commander, planes, helicopters, tanks, snipers. It could be too hard to cap that one choke point. I'm not sure I like the idea that everyone is just rushing one point, what about defense? It turns the game into a more offense struggle as there is no reason to defend most points.

The vanilla BF2 game actually provides a lot of strategy to those points in the back. If the enemy can cap a place where your tanks spawn at they can now use them against you. It seems domination mod would just let you not worry about this occurance and dumb down the strategy a bit, again by not providing a reason to defend anything outside of one or two points.

Planetside was a bit different because you had to go inside a building and hack the console. You couldn't just sit outside in your tank and cap a point. The fighting for the perimeter did not guarantee you a win at the base.

This could be good, but I think simply playing with fewer flags per player is a safer bet as it doesn't alter the core battlefield gameplay. That's why I prefer to join the 48 player server with the 32 player-sized maps.

I like the idea and really enjoyed playing Desert Combat on push maps. However, I think some of the BF2 maps are too small for this game type. Zatar Wetlands would be great because it has more space for mounting attacks and has the room for 64 players at one flag. If this were played on Strike at Karkand... oi. This would definitely be better for smaller servers.
