Help wanted: Tactical Gamer Funnies!
Tactical Gamer would like to put together our very own Tactical Gamer comic strip and is looking for volunteers.
We would like to have a comic strip that portrays those funny and frustrating moments that happen to all of us while playing games here at Tactical Gamer. The frequency of strips will depend on your schedule and the number of comic strip artists we can pull together. The only requirement is that you occasionally play on our servers and read our forums to gather the content for the strips. These strips should be for the enjoyment of the community. If you would like to make fun of that BF2 commander that shells his own teammates, or counter-terrorist who forgot his defuse kit, this is the role for you! If you have any interest, or would like more information, please PM asch. Last edited by Mateo; 07-20-2005 at 04:00 PM. |

Re: Help wanted! Tactical Gamer Funnies!
I could poorly sketch some crappy ideas... If any of them turn out to be gold, a volunteer would be welcome to turn it into something more pleasing to the eye.

Re: Help wanted! Tactical Gamer Funnies!
I Had actually though this would be a cool thing to do a long time ago but never got the time to actually act on it. I wanted to practice a lot more with my figure art first. I really like the Idea of having many artists. makes it more likely to happen and covers more areas of game play Than One artist can experience.
What I do think it needs is a set format. Ie.... CTRL Alt DEL.COM. I do not mean it has to match this but as an example the main frame is the same size and shape all the time and usually has about the same numer of Frames(but does not ave to all the time). We would need to decide if it is going to be a long horizontal strip like in a newspaper or a more vertical one like the one listed Above. I think the size should be managable so that even if it became a daily strip you could still keep up with the artwork required without spendin all your time on it. The format should be posted somewhere with any instructions on submitting to whomever manages the actuall display page. We would also need to talk to Apo about a system for archiving each strip so that they can be paged through sequentially as one particular story line may be posted in multiple smaller trips and ran squentially for a few days. Squential strips would have to kept quite by the manager until the entire strip was run once a day til completion. It would be cool if we can get to develop characters for each other that can be carried over in each artisted rendition and though may not be exactley the same can still alwasy be recognized on sight as to who it is. For example if someone is drawing Apo everyone should be able to tell that it is him without the text announcing in no matter which style he might be drawn in. Just my thoughts on it. I am definatley interested ....Runs to figure out how to draw |

Great ideas Quarath. Once I have a better understanding of the interest in this, we will be coordinating much of that amongst those participants.

Re: Help wanted! Tactical Gamer Funnies!
Comics can be flexible. I love Ctrl Alt Del, and others that follow a fixed format.
But I also love VG Cats, that takes as many frames as necessary to get the point across (which is usually better, since comedic timing is everything)

Writer for strips
Hey guys,
I am not a great illustrator, but I can come up with some great written content for strips if you hook me up with an illustrator. I pretty much play BF2 these days, so that is the game I would make them for. Let me know. -Mark www.hawtalta.com |

Re: Help wanted! Tactical Gamer Funnies!
I don't think the format should have to inflexible but that a standard format should try to be maintained. I see no problems with other variations showing up from time to time.

Re: Help wanted! Tactical Gamer Funnies!
How about this for an idea - back when southpark started, you absolutely KNEW that kenny would die at some random point. How about with your comic strip, Asch randomly pops up and TK's with a nade?
That one never gets old Root
