Thanks to Squads Tonight!

Thanks to squads tonight from about 00:30-02:30 AM EDT, I commanded on the Karkand and the Dalian maps, and you were all great. =) It was my first time commanding on the MEC team, and I have to say it's quite different. It didn't work too well at Karkand because we lost by 100, but in the Dalian map we won by like 20 or so? I can't remember now. Well anyway I'd like to thank the squads for doing so well! For the first time in a long time, I didn't get the usual "I don't feel like following orders" squad, and everyone did what they were supposed to. =o Not that we were full of robots, but at least when a squad couldn't comply or had a good idea, they'd talk to me instead of going out on their own! =D Thanks a lot for the great experience, and thanks to Bommando (squad 5) for the good tips at Dalian, they helped out a lot. 8)

Now to be brutally honest, tell me how I did. =p

Maranhao.

I was your Squad 2 "Omega" SL. The only problem I had with you was that you questioned yourself too much! Sure It might have been your first time, but I think you did fine. Practice makes perfect...

Re: Thanks to Squads Tonight!

I think you did great.

Everyone needs to practice and you won't get it perfect every time. Nobody just steps into the CO chair and knows everything about the maps. The only way is practice. Have confidence and learn from anything that doesn't work. Overall it was a fairly hard-fought map.

Sorry for all the radio noise, but I have CO'd that map many times and thought you might benefit from strats that have worked in the past.

A few tips for any future PLA COs on Dalian Plant.

This map is a half+1 ticket bleed map, so the best CPs to hold are the bottom 4. The Eastern ones are useful for coastal defence and have AA Stingers to head off or damage incoming helos before they become a nuisance (as the Seahawk did for us). The Warehouse to the South is easy to defend and under cover from artillery, so a well-prepared squad can hold this against overwhelming odds with ease. Likewise for the West. It spawns a Tank and a Gunship and has good cover against arty.

I think the only problem we had was trying to hold too many flags and getting rolled on the valuable ones. If you hold the easy to defend flags, you force the USMC to spawn on the less useful CPs and constantly be on the attack. This way you will take more kills on defence at the same time as causing ticket bleed. A winning formula.

Overall, a good showing by the PLA. Good work too Brennus, I haven't played CO for a while, so haven't caught you for some time. I do remember being on the receiving end of your fire a few times though

Re: Thanks to Squads Tonight!

I was your opposing commander at Karkland and I will compliment you on giving me absolute hell that entire round. We may have won but it didnt feel like a victory to me, your squads were faster than anything I've seen. I suppose it was your doing that they maneuvered so efficently behind our lines, which drove me insane. No matter how hard I tried to outmaneuver you, your squads were always able to smack my forces from where they didnt expect it. My compliments to you, if that was your first time you have a promising career ahead of you.

Re: Thanks to Squads Tonight!

Thanks a bunch.

Brennus: Thanks for your support, your squad did great in both rounds, especially defending those south flags at Dalian.

Bommando: You were actually the most shy SL, and you're usually talkative when I'm one of your squaddies, so that was pretty surprising, you weren't giving "noise" at all.

Zephyr: Thanks, I've commanded Karkand a couple of times already, but never on the MEC side, so I was kind of slow on the strategy there too, as opposed to when I get to CO on the USMC side, where I already know how most of it works. I loved squad 7 that round, I bet you were really frustrated on how they were always at your base lol! =p But man, I have to say you did a splendid job, very very very nice! First pinning me on the other side and then you invaded that one base and I thought squad 3 alone could handle you, but then I noticed pretty much your entire team spawned there, and it was a hangar, so I couldn't even give you artillery. Great game. =D

Re: Thanks to Squads Tonight!

I wish I had a recording of what happened on Karkand when Arf took the squad in the water to hit the east side from the south. It was clear when we started out and I guess you notified a squad we were coming. The next thing we know there's a tank waiting for us to come up the ladder.

From there it got worse when an APC came into the water. Arf was pinned down in the water while the APC just sat there. We eventually had to die and try attacking somewhere else.

Re: Thanks to Squads Tonight!

LOL so you were a member of the poor squad, I was afraid you were going to make it because I only saw you when you were already halfway through to our side, so I had to send squad 3 running to get you, that was really close.
