First Impressions on Project Reality Mini-Mod

I had a limited time to test it out. There arent many servers out there hosting it and the ones I could join were a bit laggy. But...

It looks/feels great so far

It rewards tactically-minded players who play cautious and smart. That fast-paced/arcade feel of battlefield is no longer there...

Looks like we have a suitable gaming environment to use and benefit from military tactics such as bounding over watch...

I am looking forward to playing this with fellow Tactical Gamers. Do we have a TG admin decision to put this beauty on one of the TG servers?

Re: First Impressions on Project Reality Mini-Mod

I am wondering as well, so far there are only 2 Dutch servers so many of us are bound to get lag. And even though it was laggy there were 15-20 players (I only knew like 2 of them) and everyone used teamwork and played with alot more thinking.....was pretty damn fun..

I just hope to get a server where my ping isn't 200+...hehe

post here if you can find one

and a big "well-done" and "thanks" to you and PRMM team solodude. There will/may be rough edges in the inital release but the effort itself deserves a kudos. You cannot go wrong with realism...

Re: First Impressions on Project Reality Mini-Mod

I love it.
The game seems more tactical, everyone is more cautious, and teamwork is necessary for survival. I played a round on Karkand, and tanks do not destroy everything like they normally do, and were in fact more of a hindrance to their own team. Very interesting , I think that this is a possible solution to all of bf2's infantry combat problems.

Yeah I agree, tanks are not supposed to be death traps. They are SUPPOSED to romp the battlefield.

People who complain about tanks just play too much Counter-Strike.

Re: First Impressions on Project Reality Mini-Mod

I gave it a try in SP to test some stuff out...

Well they removed a lot of the UI like ammo indicator(a tiny yellow clip indicator remains), health status, and the general border of the UI.

Kinda made me feel like I was playing a pre-release beta BF2, unpolished looking : /

Sniper rifles are now like Unreal Tournament rifles, practically always a one-shot kill (unless they're wearing body armor, but then sometimes they still do) and it's a LOT easier to hit targets. Eh.

The majority of the kits have had the pistol removed...that's a bummer, I loved yanking that out when all else fails...especially a thing I'd miss playing AT...stupid mp5 has 2 clips.

The blood effects are neat but there are still some bugs. For one, if you're a gunner in an APC you cannot hit anything for crap because they turned off crosshairs without realizing that you can't iron-sight every weapon in the game...those turrets are now useless (oversight I guess).

All in all it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth with the way they changed the UI and removal of pistols. I could deal with the sniper thing, but I read on the boards that an enemy team just went all snipers and mopped up the other team.

Re: First Impressions on Project Reality Mini-Mod

Tiny yellow number in the bottom right corner...taking the UI out of the game really turns me off to this : /
