Player Complaints

Asch said that in Yer Mom's "Password Nights Revisited", and it's key. I want to say more about this, as I want you guys seeing as much value as you possibly can from taking the time to voice complaints/concerns about others' playstyle and how it might depart from our SOPs and rules.

Guys, this pattern of people griping in the forums and the admins learning FIRST about the problems IN FORUM THREADS is not how these problems get solved. Players read this stuff and, for the most part, think "he's talking about other people."

Note who the problem players are and send the names to admins.

In the same way that you aren't allowed to tell an admin what to do, your sending a player name to an admin does absolutely nothing to that player. It doesn't get him kicked. It doesn't get him banned. It doesn't get him frowned on.

You're just the messenger. If the player is out of bounds, we'll let him know. If you and THIRTY other people tell us about this player over seven days, we know it's time to get serious with that player. And we will. And... SUDDENLY... you'll need a towel when you're done playing on our server.

But none of that can happen if you guys don't calmly, diligently, and reliably let us know who you think the problem players are. You report players. We decide if action is necessary, and then we take it.

No, playing on a Tactical Gamer server doesn't mean you're "on duty." You don't have to report problem players. But here's how Tactical Gamer works (trust me, I know): you get out of this place what you put in. Complaining vaguely and publicly in the forums (while likely with good cause, at times -- and while marginaly effective... sometimes) about players' behavior which departs from our SOPs and rules is NOT the best way to solve these problems. Give us names PRIVATELY and trust us to handle it.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Re: Player Complaints

I usually message on TS as soon as I see a problematic player and it is usually promptly taken care of.

Re: Player Complaints

Since I usually only report extreme cases over TS, every time the admin has dealt with them immediately by giving them the ol' boot. It works folks! Use it.

Re: Player Complaints

I have noticed that more and more people are frequently idleing in TS. I leave mine on all day and night. I only use it of course when I'm playing, but it's funny to see my girlfriend trip out over "strange voices" coming from my computer when it's "not on".

I laugh every night over it. Try it, it's fun.

IDLE IN TS!

Re: Player Complaints

I've done that..and it freaked my wife out.

"I hear voices."

"Oh, well that's better than seeing dead people, right?"

Re: Player Complaints

I've never had trouble reporting problems. The system works. We police our own. Make it happen. The ambiguous complaining in the forums is like showing our dirty laundry and brings the climate down. It makes others think we don't have it together, when nothing could be further from the truth.

This is a great place to be.
