Get X-Fi sound without an X-fi card?

I found this on another forum, have yet to try it:

"you can use the ultra high option by going to your BF2 documents, profile...then audio.con and changing high to ultra high and hardware to creative x-fi, i have tested this and it didnt crash on my system...maybe it was me but things sounded alot better....like....chopper flyin overhead sounded more real? explosions were more intense...idk...u try it n come back here n tell if u had a difference"

Re: Get X-Fi sound without an X-fi card?

Nevermind, I found it. I had to go to the battlefield 2 profile folder located under 'My Documents'. I was searching in my BF2 game folder.

Re: Get X-Fi sound without an X-fi card?

I have a SB Audigy 2 Gamer. I tried these settings. It didn't kill my frames...but my sound effects would constantly skip as I suppose too many sound sources tried going through it. I had to turn it off and go back to hardware high.

Not all X-Fi come with RAM. Just the top end, like the Fatality. But it'll obviously requre less CPU and less system ram with onboard ram.
