"Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine, regardless of the level of advantage, if any, it gives over the opposing team." -- Tactical Gamer Primer

Re: Alternative to the in-game BF2 Browser

I bought a life-time registration for ASE a few years ago. Before Yahoo took it over it was the best around. It's still good, but Yahoo hasn't done much to improve it.

Still much better than the in-game browser and LameSpy but after reading the PlanetBattlefield forums I'm going to give this one a try.

The only real issue I saw with people getting it to install/work was it isn't obvious you need to have the .NET 1.1 Framework installed. Otherwise, the most recent posts in the PB forum thread are very positive. There was even a comment about it taking less resources and being a bit faster than ASE.

Since all I really play these days is BF2 this may be my new browser of choice. I did see a note that column sorting (i.e. pings) isn't implemented yet but will be soon but for freeware it doesn't look bad.

Re: Alternative to the in-game BF2 Browser

asch, did you get this downloaded? Unfortunately, it appears the FP link to download it no longer works as I'm re-directed to the main FP page.

Edit: Ah, found it. You have to log-in to FP and then it takes you to the download page for the specific file.

I still preffer HLSW... works in BF2 now as reffered to by Wyz in this post:

As soon as DICE re-fixes the auto-login we'll be all set!

This browser is no longer active. The developer has disabled it.
