Lack of admins in the early evening

I was playing on server 1 last night around 5pm-7pm EST and the amount of wankerish behaviour was just incredible. The server had about 45-50 people on it and there were no less than 4 people running around jumping like morons, a few guys were stealing planes and other UCB assets, two or three guys were mining the runways and sitting in the UCB in APC's and tanks. I was on teamspeak the entire time trying to get ahold of an admin but it was to no avail... I had to stop playing because it got so bad, it just wasnt fun to play anymore...

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

Were you on the MEC side. I had 2 guys join my squad on USMC side both were saying the MEC side was so bad they couldn't take it anymore(not skill but lack of team work)...This was on Zatar around 6:00pm-7:00pm. Just the luck of the draw I think, I got in some fun games last night and got to work with some new names...we had alot of fun defending on the FuShe pass. Wicked wicked firefights and lots of neat stategies employed on both sides.

Is this a recurring issue? Or was last night a bad night?

I ask because this is the first I've heard of a lack of coverage in a while.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

I was there on MEC side, it was rather bad. Our merry squad (we had a good time nonetheless) decided to just stay and camp one remote flag for the majority of the Oilfields map (Steel_Penguin, I introduce you to my good friend IGLA ).

It's been pretty bad in the last few weeks on euro evenings - teamkilling, UCB theft/camping, flying commanders, you name it. I cheer when the hammer of justice smithes the wicked (and it usually does, but the more the better) and the lack of admins was rather noticable in the past 2, maybe 3 days (although I did get to see Apophis on one occasion).

I agree, Euro evenings are brutal lately, in fact I can't play anymore it's so bad. One or two people who are out of line is ok because usually you can talk to them and they settle down, but when it degrades to 50% of the server there is not much you can do without admin help.

It's understandable though, early Euro evening is usually late North American afternoon, and I assume most of the admins have jobs.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

One step could be the proposed password server.. with the password available to forum members. This would cut down on the "random" joins and at least ensure the server is populated with people that cared enough to browse our forums.

IMO, this combined with a dynamic map sizing script would make the TG servers more consistent in those off peak hours.

I've bumped into that a couple times. Logged onto TS and no admins. I usually just resort to sending Asch a PM in the forums. Doing that tho is kinda disruptive as opposed to just pressing my TS button

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

The problem with having a password all the time is most people wont go out of their way to find out why it has a password. I found the server by accident when the demo came out, I just happened to click on the tactical gamer server and I haven't played anywhere else since. I don't think I would of gone out of my way to find the password because I didn't even know this community existed.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

We already have quite a large BF2 following though. I checked in briefly on Wednesday and noticed that the server was full plus server #2 was being seeded and some players on the private server too.

Although, I think getting some Euro admins on board would be better. We did this for GR before to keep things running smoothly for everybody.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

I would just like to say while there maybe a lack of admins at certain times these guys are doing a hellva job. It's a lot of work and I hope they know we appreciate it, most times we post when there are problems but never when they are doing a great job. So here it is, a big thank you to all the admins that do their best to keep TG running as great as it does.

On another point, I used to get frustrated when I couldn't find a good squad. Recently I decided to made a conscious effort to help new guys learn to play the TG way and the show them the benefits of co-operative play instead of joining another squad or complaining. It's actually rewarding when you see the guys returning to your squad or joining the forums. Before you know it there will be so many TG aware players we'll have great games all the time.

Edit: I was thinking when you see a lot of new non TG players form a squad called Learn TG or TG 101 as to elude to the idea. Some may be more inclined join up. Just a thought.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

I've seen less admin presence in the last 3 nights I've been on. Hadn't thought to bring it up though. I don't expect those guys to live on the servers. And I greatly appreciate their presence when they are on as they have made a significant impact on the quality of my gaming experience by getting me a slot to join and kicking the dudes that refuse to follow the rules. The population on server 1 has been lower at the later hours lately also. By 1am cmt in the last few nights the server has been almost if not empty. A shame if I don't have enough of a fix by then...heh. I imagine a lot of people are going back to school and have other things going on hence less regulars and admins in the last few nights. Could be just a fluke, though. I don't think 3 nights is long enough to say there is a trend.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

Sheesh I take one evening off and the place falls apart

I was on last night between something like 2pm-4pm and then 6pm-8pm EST (I think that's right). Had no one say anything on Teamspeak tho. I did notice a few problems with the MEC team as my housemate was playing at the time. Dished out a warning or two and notified the whole server about teamplay.

As a side note, if an admin comes on and notices no other admin present, would you liek them to announce that they are on? It's just you could have asked 2 minutes before I came on, and unless you checked again whilst I was on you'd have no knowledge I was there.

Yes, that sounds like a good practice. Sometimes I don't realize when an admin has joined the game till after I've killed them or they have killed me a few times or I hear someone else start talking to them on teamspeak.

Re: Lack of admins in the early evening

Thats a great idea Wulf, I don't alt-tab out too much (maybe I should) but I hear a lot of "comings and goings" on the TS channels. If they (the admins) notice no other admins around, I would really like that, and think it would be really helpful!

Thanks!

As I noted that I was the only admin on TS last night (I presumed Apo was AFK, as he was not in-game) I sent a message to the server letting them know an admin was in TS. If I'm the only admin on, I plan to do that each time.

I also let the TS channel know when I was headed out for the evening as well.
