More AA blues
Another sad AA incident from last night on Oman. I had a lock on an enemy helicopter and fired my AA rockets. I was privy to watching the rockets sail out about 150-200 meters before making a 90-degree turn and sailing into a friendly helicopter off to the side. No flares or countermeasures were dropped, the rockets just decided to do their own thing.
I hope stuff like this gets fixed somewhat soon.

Re: More AA blues
Isn't that what they are supposed to do? If another heat source exists along the path to the target, how can they avoid picking it up?

Re: More AA blues
He said, "90 degree turn". How is that "along the path"? With a perfectly good heat source directly in front of you, there's no reason for a missile to prefer a different one out of it's front view ... unless they're "Team-seeking missiles" (props Mishkan).
Check the sig.

Re: More AA blues
I had something similar Tarp... I was on Oman (hmm) last weekend and Santa (MEC) was dueling it out in the air with a pubbie (USMC) and I got a solid lock on him while he was busy, fired, only to watch the missle veer off course and hit a SeaHawk. =\ I also ended up shooting down the USMC pilot once that map with a solid lock on MEC bomber, after that I gave up on the AA for that map.

Re: More AA blues
Exactly the same for me on Sharqi Peninsula. Missiles get halfway to a clean lock, and a friendly pops into the very edge of my vision. Missiles take a 90degree turn and hit the friendly helo (thankfully only 1 hit so the helo was not killed).
Unbelievable ![]()

Re: More AA blues
Yea, the AA is whacky like Donald Duck. I have now started using armor tactics for AA purposes. Using a APC with its slow firing chain gun in a nice position can be done. This in combination with communicating with friendly pilots does a decent job. Also, it gives you less friendly kills. LOL!
