Need clarification of bunny hopping (crack jumping)

Tonight, I stated in text chat to one of the opposing players that he was bunny hopping, and it was against server rules. He replied that he only jumped once, that he had read the server rules, and he wasn't breaking any of them.

His "jumping once" consisted of charging me, then jumping in the air while firing, with no obstacles around to jump over, all of which resulted in my death. IMO, he had a clear advantage with his one jump, and I believe I would have killed him (even with my puny mp5) had he not done so.

I have also read the rules, which state:

6) Crack-Jumping is FORBIDDEN.
Crack-Jumping is the act of continually jumping while engaged in combat or reloading with the intent to avoid being hit.

I notice that it says "continually", which he did not do. But I also notice on another thread, http://www.tacticalgamer.com/showthr...ighlight=bunny , that Bommando believes even jumping once without jumping over obstacles is considered bunny hopping.

So, was his act considered "crack jumping"?

I was on late last night for a quick match and the same thing happened to me! As I took aim, my target jumped to the side and while in *mid-air*, unloaded death from above! I said in text; "god i hate bunny hoppers!". He said that he was "jumping to avoid my FOV" and preceded to say some very nasty things! I think he even called me an "idiot"!

So avoiding someone's FOV while jumping *is* bunny hopping! Jumping in any form, either to get a better shot, or to avoid being shot *while exchanging gun fire* is bunny hopping! You will NEVER see me doing it...

I agree with Brennus's interpretation of the rule.

Jumping to aviod a shot, or to reload your weapon or to fire at an oppenent is bunnyhopping for me.
I have to admit that sometimes I jump once, sorta out of reflex/habit actually, but not a gazillion times.
Jumping over something or to see something that is a little bit above you its ok I geuss.

Re: Need clarification of bunny hopping (crack hopping)

Yeah I have to admit I've been guilty of this "jump once" thing as well. I usually use it to come out of prone. I'm not sure which game spawned that habit, possibly America's Army, but I've been trying to break it. I've also done it to jump behind an obstacle, like a dumpster etc, when under fire. However in neither of these cases have I ever reloaded or fired on the enemy in the middle of the jump.

Trying to stop both of these habits since it may be construed as bunnyhopping

Less complaining, more admin calling, please. That's clearly against the rules, and the SOPs have the remedy.
