TG units, who are you?
There are a few TG units around these days. I think the most commonly seen are 7th, 42nd and 1stMIP, but I know there's VMFA-531 and I've seen other tags. I'm sure most regulars have an idea what these different units are, and what they do but some of us are still fuzzy on some of the details and there's always new people joining.
So, what exactly are these units? What do you guys do? What's the difference, for example, between the 42nd and the 7th? Inquiring minds want to know! ![]() |

Re: TG units, who are you?
I can give you this quote about the 7th from asch:
"The 7th is primarily a ground based team who's goal is to provide a cohesive unit where each of it's parts are interchangeable. The team plans to practice the use of fire teams, fire & movement, communication protocols, collaborate on strategy & tactics, etc." Basically, we're ground pounders. I think the MIP are armor based, and I'm not sure about the 42nd. The 531 is an air based squad. I'll let them explain further ![]() |

Nice Mateo. The cool thing about the 7th is with so many members you can always find a few on the servers at any given time. Get a couple of us in a squad together and watch out!

Re: TG units, who are you?
all right, here it goes for the 1stMIP. This is a draft and I didnt have much time to refine it. But I guess it gives a basic idea.
I kindly request from an admin to create a sticky regular teams topic so that new players will have an idea about different gaming styles and groups within TG. 1st Mechanized Infantry Platoon (1stMIP, aka C-Team) Profile - We are a group of like-minded mature players. - Team objective is "very" serious, realistic and organized gameplay with military discipline. It is NOT "just a game" for us. Competition is NOT our focus. We have fun when we achieve our team objective. - There is not a permanent ranking system in the team. Roles (including squad leader) can be changed by request. - Basic operating idea of 1stMIP is to define functions/tasks/responsibilities for each position in the team and avoid micromanagement. This requires a lot of research and practice. - Members have freedom to suggest rules, procedures and tactics. - 1stMIP is a mechanized infantry platoon. If available, all vehicles (armored and non-armored) are used in our operations. If not, we operate as infantry squad(s). - In near future, 1stMIP's focus will be on more tactical games/mods (Battlefield 2 realism mods and Operation Flashpoint) Membership Requirements - Serious, enthusiastic and dedicated players sharing the same gameplay ideas (see team objective) - Regular attendance to practice sessions/public games - Regular responding to debriefing and attendance threads on team forum - PM John CANavar for other details. Basic Tactical Elements and Procedures Used in 1stMIP - Regular briefings, debriefings, procedure development discussions on team page. - An agenda for each meeting - Fire teams - Formations - Fixed kit, vehicle and station assignments for all squad members irrespective of the mission type. - Radio communication standards (status reports and others) - Standard defense procedure - Standard attack procedure (still under development, several procedures have been tested so far) Last edited by John CANavar; 09-16-2005 at 03:43 PM. Re: TG units, who are you?
The 42nd is trying to bring real life squad tactics and strategies to the gaming world. Most of us have our background in GR, OFP and the like. Basically, TG-42nd seeks to embody all the best qualities of Tactical Gamer. We're always looking for like minded players too.
EDIT: I know we have tacticalconflict.com, but woulnd't it be a good idea to have each team write up a summary of what they do with contact info and place these in a sticky post in the General BF2 Forum? Just call me "gimme stickie" |
