Coop Game type?

I am new to Battlefield 2 and this community so I hope you all will excuse my slight ignorance. I am curious if there is any way to create a local or online game which has a coop setting. What I mean by this is you have you and your friend/s as a team vs the NPC's like in the single player version. So instead of player vs player, you and your friend (or friends) play against other against the computer npc's on a difficult setting or such.

If there isn't any way of playing this type of game currently, does anyone know if there are any plans to have a Coop game type in the future? Any and all information on this subject would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ahead of time

I personally think bots are WAY too easy on this game, even at the hardest level. I can seriously take on almost the entire enemy team with only a tank on single player mode. So come to TG! :P

I have heard that you can start a single player game and someone can join it by connecting to IP in the game. I haven't tried it though...
