UCB camping question

Just wondering if you can destroy assets in a UCB then stay nearby (camp) to prevent engineers from fixing

Thanks
Sean

Absolutely! As long as you're not indiscriminately popping off people as they spawn that are not trying to fix those assets, you're more than free to stick around and make sure those assets stay down.

Assets being: UAV, Radar & Artillery

Re: UCB camping question

Glad you cleared this up...

Another point of case is if you BUMP INTO someone whilst blowing up assets...

Of course you are going to kill them ('It was him or me, man!')...But they should be fully aware not just spawning.

When this happens to me and someone spawns in front of me I try to be fair and avoid them if I can...

What I am talking about is when you have planted your C4 and as you are running away a recently spawned BUT FULLY AWARE enemy notices you and turns towards you.

That's a fair kill in my book and not spawn camping (although if you win the face-off you may get accused of spawn-camping, but that's just sour grapes on the victim's part).

I'd say you've got a fair representation of what's allowed. If you come upon somebody that has JUST spawned, you absolutely may not kill him at all period. Once he looks around, notices you and heads your direction, that's a different story.

But you shouldn't be putting yourself in a situation to "bump" into someone that has just spawned. If you're in the UCB, you should be sneaking around, or getting in and getting out. Assets are your objective, not kills.

ANother quick question.

Is it OK to blow up UCB vehiclesas long as you don't enter them? Specifically unoccupied ones.

Negative.

We discussed that and decided that gameplay is best served by allowing for command assets only to be attacked. We could make the "disrupting supply lines" argument, but in actuality the limitation of the game's spawning system (for people and vehicles) made "UCB camping" (for people and vehicles) something that just isn't fun or challenging for the team being attacked.

Also generally the only vehicle I allow my squads to take in a UCB is jeeps for fast getaways.

Re: UCB camping question

Of course camping an asset is allowed - because it's not really that great of a tactic. You'll only get away with it if the commander who's gear your destroying is really asleep at the wheel.

It's all too easy for a commander to sneak up on you (since he can see you in sat view, even without the assets) and get a sweet knife kill.

Is this allowed? Rule 2b mentions "Entering the UCB with the intent of stealing any vehicle". I've interpreted that to mean that you can't use any enemy vehicle in a UCB for any reason.

It is not against the rules to take a vehicle to escape from an UCB. However, it's all about intent. There's an interesting thread regarding vehicle theft that discusses Karkand. Going into the UCB to blow up assets and then taking a TANK is not what we want happening. Taking a jeep to escape with is quite different. Your intention needs to be to blow up command assets, NOT to deny the enemy the use of their vehicles.

The problem lies with the fact that it's a common strategy in competition/cutthroat play to go steal the valuable vehicles and then just take them to a safe place and park them so they won't respawn and the enemy won't have access to them. That is cheesy absolutely against the rules here.

Maybe it should be specified that only light vehicles (jeep, buggy, boat) can be taken to escape from a UCB.

Re: UCB camping question

I think you should always look for a jeep first. If theres none around, then take whatever vehicle and as soon as your far enough away you get out and blow it up.

Re: UCB camping question

Could you mine or C4 vehicles in the UCB? My feeling would be no, it would be equivalent to stealing them.
I guess the UCB is the equivalent of the secure home base where an endless supply of resources is available. THose resources can be harmed by spies or sabotage but only up to a point. And our rules make that point clear. I would agreee that the escape rule makes sense and makes gameplay more fun. I can already see myself being chased by angry arabs out of the Zatar base
