Would you play rolled back 1.02?

I must admit that I am a victim of the "invalid CD key" bug in the new patch. But I see a lot of complaints from other people as well. It might just be wishful thinking but I sure don't want to have to wait until patch 1.03.1 to rejoin TG. So I'm starting this poll to gauge interest in playing on a TG server(such as the often empty BF2 #2 server) that we roll back to 1.02. And I use "we" liberally since I know and appreciate that Apo is doing the heavy lifting on this stuff.

Did you try uninstalling then reinstalling and patching? A guy in this thread did quite a bit of messing around and that ended up being the fix for him. Seems like it has something to do with using different Windows users maybe...?

Re: Would you play rolled back 1.02?

If you guys wanted to do that on server #2 thats fine.

But i'm guessing the vast majority of TGers had no problem with the patch and that server would most likely be empty...

I have a feeling that if I were forced to reinstall BF2, it probably wouldn't happen.

YEah reinstalling isn't doing it. I don't want to drag tech issues into the wrong forum anyway.

Tempus you said you read they were hotfixing that? Do you remember where? Possibly have a link? I'm wondering how long I have to be without BF2.

You guys are probably right about the server being empty most of the time. Maybe if we set it to AAS 16 player...

Re: Would you play rolled back 1.02?

AAS is down right now. We played a couple matches there and we captured them in order. Then we noticed the other side wasn't. We tried to capture a flag out of order and of course we were able to. Our first indicator should have been not seeing the instruction on which flag was next. I am sure with the 1.03 update, a lot of the mods have to be updated also.

I saw this on the pbf forums last night. It was not official... Someone said he contacted EA and they said a hotfix would be forthcoming. Take that with a grain of salt, but with it being such a wide problem, expect something soon.

Re: Would you play rolled back 1.02?

yes, i havent actually been able to dload the patch yet because i have been away from my rig. i played for a bit on the AAS server with Ultrablue as SL and 0b1one as a copilot on some map i dont remember. they hadnt put in the patch yet but i thought the mod was cool and forced a neat defensive standpoint to the maps. i was quite disiapointed by the number of flag caps by attack helo but they were awfuly fun targets for my tank sitting in the bushes.....

i also had some awsome luck with the TV missile. i shot down 2 emeny copters that we were "copter fighting" with by the TV missile.

Thumbs up Re: Would you play rolled back 1.02?

I, fortunately, did not encounter any problems with the patch! My brother, on the other hand, was *very* unfortunate! So this is what I found...

SOLUTION:

1. Start the patch (no this is not a reinstall - keep reading)
2. Select your language
3. At the "welcome-screen", do not proceed!.
4. Keep the patch-window open and go to your start menu, select "run".
5. Write %temp%
6. Enter the folder {alot-of-digits-and-letters} and proceed to a a folder with a similar name. For example:
{03A9E526-2B99-4AF2-BC50-D26A2CFB516D}\{F317E784-F31C-4F26-A610-2D7BD89FEC5F},
7. Double click BF2CDKeyCheck.exe
8. You won't notice anything at this point.
9. Now your CD-KEY troubles are over (worked for me).
10. Thanx to Instinct and Billen .

It worked for him! So, let me know if it works for you...

I didn't have an Invalid CD KEY problem but, Don't you think that the EXPANSION PACK ( Due out on Nov. 1st ) will address that ?
