Exclamation TG BF2 World Tournament

http://bf2.worldtournament.net/

We should create a TG group and win some prizes! I dont completly understand how it works (it seems to be ongoing until the 23rd... but how can they award prizes for people joining at different times?). Anyone interested?

Re: TG BF2 World Tournament

Sweet. IMO, TG in a 32v32 game would completely dominate.

Re: TG BF2 World Tournament

Ah. The tournament doesnt begin until November. Plenty of time for us to organize and dominate . I'm real serious about this. It would be a great test for TG members, and if we really are the best we should win some nice prizes!

The tournament will be played as 8 vs. 8 on 16-Player Size Maps.
I dont understand 8... One commander... 6 players to a squad... and one guy alone?

Re: TG BF2 World Tournament

Wait...8v8 might be an issue. The thing is that 32v32 requires real strategy and teamwork. 8v8 is used to emphasise run 'n gun, deathmatch style gameplay. While we have a slight upper hand due to our teamwork abilities, we could be quite possibly outgunned by a smallish clan, all on Teamspeak, with good to excellent combat skills.

Ah yeah I'd like to join, but with 8v8 I'd rather play CSS...

I don't get this crap.. We have this game that is designed for - and works beautifully with - large teams, yet every stupid tournament/ladder/whatever is geared for small 8 player teams.

Re: TG BF2 World Tournament

totally agree with you tempus. If you want 8v8 then there are plenty of other engines that will cope (like doom2 for example...

The strength of BF2 is in it's large scale combat, and yet not even EA recognise this.

Re: TG BF2 World Tournament

my guess is the number of clans, gaming communities, or whatever you want to call them able to field a cohesive 32 man roster is relatively small to begin with. then to play on a level of teamwork and coordination like TG? it might be awhile...

Re: TG BF2 World Tournament

After I read that the tournament would be 8 vs. 8, it totally turned me off. What would be the purpose? It would be an arena, not a tactical map. Maybe someday there would be a more serious competition. And then the Koreans could come kick our butts. :P

Would it be possible to set this up ourselves? Call some sponsors and get some prizes? How feasible would this be? Just speculating.

I've started a thread about this in the CAL forums. Unfortunately, it's like walking into a grade school and asking the same question.

I noticed that too. I posted a couple replies and expect to be equally flamed.

I have never understood why many CAL participants feel they are the cats pajamas because they compete in CAL.

Remember. The "A" in CAL stands for Amateur!
