Cleansweep Svr 1, 12am est 10/23
Good game tonight on Cleansweep, A US victory...
I started Squad 7, hopped in a boat and watched my squad expand to 6 before we hit our first flag (Control Center). Over the next 5 minutes we lost and retook the Control Center on our way to capturing the refueling station, abandoned village, Communications Central (2 waves), The Harbor, and then the MEC Airfield. We held the Airfield for a long time against infantry attacks from the west (Communications Central) and The Harbor which changed hands several times. Eventually we lost the Airfield to superior numbers. The closest flags at that point to the MEC Airfield was the Abandoned Village, so we grabbed a couple buggies and whipped past enemy held points (Communications Center and the Harbor) to enter the Airfield as the MEC emptied out to the front. Once again we held the Airfield for long periods. By the time the MEC recaptured their airfield, they were already down by 180 tickets with less than 100 to go. The key to our success was that we were quick to move from flag to flag, often skipping past the front when we had multiple squad already assaulting it. By taking out the flag immediately behind a flag the rest of our team was capturing we were able to limit reinforcements for the MEC. Even when we were loaded down with armor, we often still kept a very mobile force flanking the enemy to take the flag behind them. Shout out to the guys in Squad 7 who were extremely flexible and very efficient. Bukarsachen, Sabre920, Luuser, Kilrog, Thundeer, Juice7, and Marstein our commander. Great job guys! Lucky Shot |

Yea, it's unbalanced. It's not the only map that's unbalanced though. Sharqi is unbalanced, Wake, Cleansweep, Kubra, Dragon.
In Cleansweep it's impossible to hold every flag. You have to hold the flags worth holding. Truth is that when we assaulted many of the flags, most were undefended. The more vital the flag, the less resistance. Control Center was guarded by 1 man, 2 when we retook it. We met heavy resistance halfway between the Refueling Station and the Control Center. The Refueling Center took us 2 waves. Abandoned Village was defended by 1 AT. Communications Center had 2 infantry which we eliminated and 1 tank made it interesting. Harbor, we let an APC and Buggy pass us as we climbed the hills past them. 1 Tank tried to retake the Harbor flag after we whited it out and an APC tried after we took out the tank. The MEC Airfield was defended by 2 infantry 1 of which was a squad leader. The rest of the squad popped up after we took the flag. Defense of the Airfield was when we saw the most action. Even when they did take it back from us, it was lightly guarded when we made it back (1 APC, 1 Infantry). We didn't rampage from flag to flag, but most of the flags fell quickly to us because the MEC didn't have anyone guarding them. Lucky Shot p.s. Truth be told, Karkand is pretty unbalanced too. We just played it enough to figure out how to make it work. Losing your airfields is exactly the same as losing the MEC main on Karkand. |

It was exciting to be CO on this map. After I signed on to the job I first had to get my assets repaired. Good that there were about 5 single man squads available to do that. Over the course of the game 3 bigger squads formed: 3, 7 and 8. 8 consistently denied my requests but moved across the map in a logical way anyhow. 3 held the west and 7 the east. Eventually 7 was pushed out of the airfield/harbor area by a concentration of enemies (and because I couldn't convince 8 to move over there). My luck was that the MEC opposition never succesfully snug into our back in the west so we kept a comfortable lead.
My tactic was to keep the east and west and leave the middle flags to the MEC. I think the squads in that game did an excellent job, esp 3 and 7 were very good with feedback and requests. I just made certain that the UAV and artillery were always busy and kept the squads moving in the right direction. Devence was difficult for me to coordinate and I did not direct any squad to defend outlying posts - even the important far west one. Mostly because I thought they would not stay there and be bored and because I needed them in the squeezepoint in the middle. Anyhow that was the best time I had ever commanding. Thanks.
