Giant Grid of Death - Weapon Damage Tables
I found this while browsing, and it's pretty interesting.
http://www.planetbattlefield.com/intel/bf2/grid.html According to that, the TV missile is the most powerful weapon in the game, the shotgun is the most powerful gun and if you hit a foot soldier at all with the cannon on a plane, it's a kill.

Sweet, though it says you only need 0.5 with the M95 to kill a soldier...that aint the case(in the game its same as M24), the M95 damage versus vehicles seems about right

Re: Giant Grid of Death - Weapon Damage Tables
It says that the Laser-guided bomber missile requires 1.3 hits to take out armor, and THAT ain't so.

For some reason it seems to assume a non-direct hit. There are some other WTFs in weapon damage though, the specops SMG and the light MGs (Support/light jeep, boat etc) are essentially the same weapon. The LMG just has a bigger magazine... The grid also says that the AT missile takes 1.5 rounds to sink a boat. In-game however, I've never seen a boat take more than 1 direct hit. |

Re: Giant Grid of Death - Weapon Damage Tables
These tables just back up my experience:
#1. The pump action engineer shotgun is the most effective weapon at close range, hit them in the head and they are dead period. #2. The G3 looks to only be slightly better than the other assault rifles.. I still prefer the AK (More ammo per clip) as it hits a happy medium. #3. I will no longer waste a single shot against jeeps/heli's from an assault rifle ![]() |

This guy may have pulled the figures from a data file, but there's some aspect to weapon damage he's not accounting for. I suspect each weapon has an armor penetration factor that's not being accounted for - some weapons do more damage against unamored targets, others don't (like sniper rifles). I suspect models have damage points and armor values, and weapons fire does a certain amount of damage and an armor penetration. The game figures out the damage done by combining the armor of the target, the angle of incidence and the armor penetration of the weapon being fired. This would explain some of the weirdness with his numbers; for example certain vehicles like helos might actually have low HP, but very high armor. |

Oh, here it is: ![]() PS More deviation = less accuracy

Re: Giant Grid of Death - Weapon Damage Tables
I think people are basing their accuracy on their gut feeling, which would come from recoil. The gun "feels" like it kicks back less when they fire, even if the bullets deviate more. So although it's less accurate mathematically, depending on your skill at recoil compensation it might be a little better for you.
