32 player maps on server 1?
All night the server has been running 32 player maps. It's a nice change up and definitely increases the action but I'm wondering if it's planned to keep this?

It isn't planned. asch lowered the mapsize to 32 last night for the late-night crowd and it got left that way. When I found out it was left that way this evening, nobody was complaining, so I figured it was a chance to see what people thought of playing the 32 player maps on an almost full server.
So post what you thought. I really liked playing Fushe as a small map, but the teams were a bit too uneven to get the full experience.

Some of the maps seemed more dynamic with the 32 player size. Karkand was interesting because the fact that only one CP is on the east side discourages the river stalemate from happening. I think that round ended 1-0 in favor of mec
![]() Dragon valley, although i didnt play it 32, is infinitaly better because its not so much whack a mole. Zatar is better 64 players because the MEC can actually take the airfield. Seems like it just depends on the map for whether its better 64 players or 32 players. Just my opinions though. |

Actually, just as I was leaving it changed to a 16 player map. I think someone changed it to adjust to the number of players on the level. I played 3 32 player maps in a row then as the numbers dropped, only a 16 player Oman.

I enjoyed it. FuShe was very good, lots of action and no jets. Shoghua and Dalian was more action oriented too. Overall, it cut down on the playing field while avoiding turning it into a fragfest. And the elimination of some of the air assets was a positive. I'm for keeping some of the maps smaller.

Actually, last night they left the server on a 16 person map style. =P It lasted a good 3 minutes before the 4vs3 was over and the end of the night came.
I enjoyed the smaller map sizes. I felt the need to move my sqaud in bigger maps since it wasn't that much of a hike and I knew my flag wouldn't get taken back while I was halfway to the next flag. I also enjoyed the bigger maps a lot more. Less air to deal with, but still a factor, and less terrain to cover. Karkand was extremely fun also and very close. I'd like to try it for a few more days and see if it continues to be good maps. |

The big open "vehicle" maps should be left at 32p versions. The more urban maps 64.
For example: 32p Zatar FuShe Dragon Valley Kubra Songhua Stalemate 64p Karkand Mashtuur Sharqi Oman Dalian Plant Daqing Oilfields and i know im forgetting some |

I played FuShe, Dalian, and Sharqi. The first two weren't too bad, the last felt like team deathmatch to me. We really need that north flag on Sharqi to spread out the forces. Tank + tank + APC + chopper = ugh
It didn't help that our commander on Sharqi drove us in to the ground, switched teams after a mutiny was called and the TV station gone, then gloated about winning at the end. |

Yea, I try not to name names in case I embarass someone, but that was him. I don't mind new commanders trying the role, but to leave when you've run your team in to the ground and then gloat from the other side... That's just rude.
I don't know what he was or wasn't doing, was too busy trying to stay alive myself, but |TG| tagged people calling a mutiny is kinda shady. If he's neglecting his duties, then get an admin to remove him (an admin was around). If he's just not doing a good job, then play along and try to help him out. |

Overall it's my fault. The maps were changed to 32 players and I didn't spot it. I heard that the password was still on the server, so I flipped it over to no-password. It was halway through the first game that we noticed that we were playing 32 player maps instead of 64 player maps. At that time the server was about half full and everyone seemed to be enjoying the map change, so I thought - hey it won't hurt for a night. Certianly Fu'She and Karkand play very differently and put a bit of life into those two maps.
We won't be running all maps as 32 player maps from now on, so expect a switch back to be made at some point.

He was the USMC commander on Zatar before he left(mouse bug on the commander screen) and I took over. He was a horrible commander and should have left earlier, hell, he didn't even have a mic. If he had left earlier, I could have won it for the USMC.

I think all the maps on server 1 should be 64 player.
That's the sort of scrim we "train" for. In fact, the current Kubra Dam 32 player size is really annoying, and doesn't limit the playing field at all. It takes away one CP. It should go back to 64.
