AAR: 10/28 10pm EST - 12pm EST

Tonight was basically my second or third time playing AA online, and my first on the TG servers. Man, was I impressed. This game, when played with like-minded people, completely kicks ass.

The players tonight were:
The always helpful and encouraging Turbo
The offical AA sage Sloppy Joe
That dude called perry
The guy I love to shoot Dark Viper
Something something something Grunt70
Meat shield, decoy, cannon fodder, sacrificial lamb Munchkin (me)

First map for the evening was Mountain Ambush. Initially this acted as a bit of a warm-up for itchy-trigger fingers, with only 2 players on each side, but as more joined it became more tactical. Eventually we were innundated with some non-English speaking (Spaniards?), and had to password the server.

Next map was SF Hospital, with me on the Escort team. Due to my shameful honor (initially 9, later bumped up to 10) I was forced to play as an indigenous forces soldier, but fortunately I had the experience of both Turbo and Sloppy Joe on my side during this kickass map. Turbo was an SF soldier, Sloppy was the VIP. I learnt a lot from this map, as well as getting gunned down a lot. Man, urban combat is tense - but we won most of the rounds on this baby

On to SF Oasis . After the hospital map, the open combat that this map offers didn't appeal to me that much. My lack of gun mods also meant that I was essentially limited to engagements within 50 or so meters, and on a long range map this isn't a good thing. However, I was put to good use as a decoy, but even with my l33t decoying skillZ we only won once.

Dark Viper and Turbo were my teammates for that.

Weapons Cache was next up, with DV and Turbo still on my team as Assault. I actually had played this map a couple a times before, and had a rudimentary understanding of the way it worked. Most of the map I played as an AR, laying down suppressive fire across the courtyard at the window in which Sloppy Joe would work his devious magic. A lot of sneaking and strategising occured on this map, and I learnt the fine art of door propping from Turbo.

The final map (for me, at least) was Special Forces PCR (Precious Cargo Recovery). It's a pretty cool mission for both teams, with random spawn points, briefcase objective, and extraction points. Also, it features a nightmarish central building, where the stairs were designed by a freakin maniac. As we were all pretty new to this map, we had a 'map tour' round, and inspected the whole area. At first it was a nice, peaceful affair - before the firefights started. I'm looking at you, DV.
With Turbo and Grunt70 on my team, I discovered that RPGs are funny things. One of those bastards can shoot down a wall (and tk your entire team in the process, as I found out), but didn't manage to kill the 3 enemies I shot one at. From memory, we got massacred on this one.

Thanks Turbo for being really helpful and such a good teacher, and thanks to everyone for a fun night. Up for some games tomorrow?

Re: AAR: 10/28 10pm EST - 12pm EST

I'm really starting to like Mountain Ambush. Really requires tight teamwork to pull off a win. Hospital is good without the constant rushers that you find on most servers (most of my previous AA experience is on this map, but TG-style is completely different), though I think a map tour from both sides could help some of ya'll out.

For the last 2 or 3 rounds of Oasis I switched from my SOPMOD over to the IF dude to prove to DV that you don't need 15 honor to pwn. I'm starting to figure that map out now..

I'm still pretty lost on Weapon's Cache.. It wasn't until the last round or two that I finally figured out where all the entrance ways are. I've only played defense on this map so I need to make my way to assault next time.

AA has an arming distance for the M203 and RPG's.. It's not like BF2 where you can run around blasting missles everywhere I got a good laugh out of watching you launch that missle at us and nothing happening. Our ambush when both sides blew holes in the wall was great. PCR is a fun.

Arming distance? Aw...sheez...now I feel silly.
Anyway, I'm planning to spend some time overnight cranking up my honor and doing the E&E course. I want my SOPMOD dammit!

For all out fun Bf2 rules. AA is slower paced and your death means something more than the die spawn die of BF2. And the tactical realism on AA is just great.

I look forward to playing more with you guys and learning the maps...good games hooya.

Thanks to all for you patience with the noob (11 honor)...Turbo, Sloppy...you guys have been great.

Someone made fun of my boston accent (or wait was that on BF2)...anyhow..go Pats (American Football)

Heh, the "something something" bit meant that I was out of ideas for descriptions.

LOL BS, I finally got my 15 honor and omg, it is sooooo much better. I was picking people off left and right with my scoped and silenced m4.

Weapons Cache tonight was funny. Munchkin and I were just running around lost and heard an explosion near us and it said Sloppy killed himself. He came over and told us that he was chasing us with a nade in his hand and it went off prematurely.

Need to get more people to play so we can use the extra squads with sniper rifles.

I'll be on sometime, maybe late-ish. Sorry I can't be more specific, but we just changed into daylight saving time, so I'm sleepy and confused.
