Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

Release Notes - note that the Little Bird is in this release! The hit effects look kinda cool. Not sure I like that the nade launcher damage was increased, but maybe it's balanced out by other changes? No crosshairs, gotta use the ironsights.

I'll download it and give it a try...

Re: Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

I was gonna dl it, but 120 megs on a dialup-speed connection blows. It's good to see they fixed the gaping flaws with the ammo count and fire modes, but most of the changes besides that of the Little Bird seem to be cosmetic.

Can you give us some feedback on how that helo handles? If it's nice and speedy, with a fair bit of agility, it could quickly become a small squad's best friend. Also, I know snipers would love it.

Re: Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

The attack choppers seem to turn a bit quicker but handle the same. The transport choppers handle the same. Now the LB is were it gets freaky. That thing handles like a DC chopper, ie: easily overcorrected. That and the cockpit is like a bubble that makes everything in your peripheral vision look distorted and round, also it seems like it is zooming in and out. Couple all that with moving around and no outside view, I was getting nauseas while flying around. Really I was, no joke. It was making me sick.

Planes seem the same except no nose cam. I didn't try missles because I didn't have anything to lock on to.

Tanks are more complicated now, but they are great. You can now ZOOM way in with the tank's sights, just like a sniper rifle.

The blood splatter was awsome! It is just what BF2 needed, but then again, maybe I'm too violent .

The small arms seem to be more accurate and powerful now. No crosshair, so you will have to use the sights mostly. They took away the pistol for medic, assult, engineer, and support. Also no smg for AT, only rockets and pistol. Spec Ops only get 4 c4s instead of 5. You can't see how many bullets are left in your gun because of the new hud, but you still know how many clips you have left.

*EDIT* Also I couldn't steal enemy choppers but I could steal their buggies. I didn't try to steal any other type of vehicle.

I only played around with it for 10 mins so I didn't get to see everything that was changed. Hopefully perry will write a more extensive review.

Overall I don't really like it. I like my arcadish crosshairs and outside views. It does have some positive aspects though, arggg more BLOOD lol.

Violent, violent guy. Crushing people with the Little Bird would be cool. Even more humiliation!

I liked the choppers in DC, especially since i was one of the few who could actually land one anywhere.

Re: Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

Yea, I saw a post by a developer saying that a week before release they realized the Little Bird was buggy in the way that it flew and had decided not to included it. Then they realized that they just had to release it with this version, bugs or not. I think one of the bugs is that one of the seats is on the tail rotor..? The testers never noticed that one

Re: Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

I just played on the glory houndz server. Its a fun mod. Its like the TG mod but taken to an extreame. Its hard to get used to at first, its one of the rare times where I was actually scared of dieing. A 3-shot burst in the chest will kill someone, and the animations are cool. If anyone wants to make a TG squad and play, I'm up for it. Because I played in a pub and the teamwork was lacking.

I played it. If we got some TG people playing I'd really enjoy it.

I was just thinking that. A PRMM night on server 2 would be great. I think it's the type of gameplay TG would enjoy.

Re: Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

I played for a few minutes.. I definitely do not like how it doesn't show who killed you or who you killed. It didn't even show who won the round at the end.

They got rid of all the cameras on the vehicles except for the standard cockpit cam. And the damage indicators. Was the damage flash in my jet a missle or a AK-47? Not sure I like that.

Tried twice to ride in the little bird on Oman. First time the guy crashed taking off. Second time, a MEC AT dude was on the carrier and shot our little bird as we were taking off

It was like 10v10 on 32 player Oman. The AAS mod was going but we had the MEC pinned back to their airfield when I joined... Seemed like our entire team was in armor, so as soon as a MEC dude had capped a flag, 3 tanks and 3 APCs were on their way.. maybe a jet and Cobra too. So they were right back to their airfield in a flash.

Didn't really get a feel for the infantry combat except for when I shot the aforementioned MEC AT guy on our carrier.. Did that without crosshairs because he was trying to hide on one of the side railing things and I looked down on him from the deck.

I did drive a tank for a few minutes. Either I was partially damaged, or another tank took me out in one shot.. not sure. The tank has SABOT and HEAT rounds.. what's the difference?

Maybe I'll try to play again Tuesday night or something if a few of ya'll wanna plan somehting.

Re: Project Reality Mini-Mod .2

HEAT is for infantry and soft targets, SABOT is for armoured targets. Playing OFP pays off.
