Don't shoot when you don't have to.

Often I drive a vehicle and the guys warm up the guns shooting at shoots and leaves. This just makes any enemy in the vicinity aware that some noobs are coming up. Here an enlightening illustration:

Re: Don't shoot when you don't have to.

I've always wondered what the "Low" video settings looked like in BF2.

( that would be funnier if I didn't run in "Low" mode... )

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

i always like the squad leaders who attempt to remain covert at all costs, even when obviously exposed. you've got bombs falling on you and two AT rockets on the way, and he's saying shhhh...i don't...think...they see us yet... BOOM!

Re: Don't shoot when you don't have to.

Good Post Marstein...I've done that myself and took a verbal lashing from the SL...that was shortly after coming over from the Pubbies...I'd like to think I know better now...

LOL at those pictures...

On the other hand, sometimes it's a good idea to shoot at a chopper/tank/whatever so you can draw attention away from your SL, flag, troops, etc. Anything to distract an attack chopper is a Good Idea.

Re: Don't shoot when you don't have to.

Don't let me see anyone doing that crap while I'm driving. Great post.

If we are obviously seen, then fire away. It drives me nuts when people use the FAV guns or .50 cal to just shoot at nothing for the hell of it. Those things make enough noise without adding to it.

Don't shoot unless you have a valid target and you are likely to take it down. If the specific aim is to be covert, only shoot once fired upon. Also note the difference between a LMG and a .50 cal. A .50 cal will do plenty of damage to a chopper, a LMG (like the one used on a RIB) will not.

Re: Don't shoot when you don't have to.

I agree with the above.. Its really a lost cause to shoot at anything without first thinking about it.

My friend Evanz0rz and I took out an attack chopper with 2 HMMVE .50 cal's in a matter of seconds.. Poor pilot didnt even get a chance to know what was shooting him

Re: Don't shoot when you don't have to.

It is also the responsibility of the SL to let his squad know what the current Fire Discipline is. This should define when a squad should or should not be firing.
