My current work

Well when I get kicked from the server (booooooo) this is what I spend my time doing.

It is my current map and is so far un-named but as a general description it is a forest based map designed for infantry combat/manouvers.

I plan on having NO armour, only light and heavy jeeps plus MAYBE a transport heli. I'm thinking of making both team (China and USMC) use the chinese transport so there is no advantage to USMC.

The UCB bases are designed to be very hard to camp so artillery and other assets will be at a secondary base just outside of the main bases so they can be accessed.

I am proberly about 50% completed, I still have to add 3 bases, then have the details to add, the fiddly lighting stuff, ect ect ect.

What do you guys/gals think? A possible TG map? I think it will go nicely with the TG Mod.

Any comments and questions are welcome.

Edit: Excuse the spikes in the background. I had an error with the out of bounds terrain and I have yet to create it. the map square is button 5 on your numpad, I have to create, 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9.... so i'm not looking forward to how long that will take!

Re: My current work

Looks pretty promising to me - as I prefer infantry play I really like the prospect of an infantry-only map. Add lots of soft and hard vegetation like bushes and stones (as seen in the Wetlands) and this will be fun. At the moment this map looks like a snipefest

+rep!

Forget the mod! We'll put it on our server!

Re: My current work

Thanks for the comments guys.

Snipe fest maybe, but i'm trying to use the forests and valleys as cover. Plus 1 smoke cannister should be able to cover a squads movement between points, so if this map is played with the mod the extra smoke assaults get should make this map very interesting indeed.

There will be places to snipe, but what isn't shown clearly through screenshots is the paths between flags, there are sniping points, so you can cover assaulting squads but there will be a counter sniping point to that. Plus there are areas where snipers will get slaughted such as in dense woodland to the north, but to the south, east and west they can provide important support.

When I am closer to completing the map I will try to film the map using Fraps or another program. I don't understand why other map makers don't release videos of there maps, it shows the paths and overall style of the map so much better than screenshots. Screenshots are good for features such as the flags but letting the server admins and player (who will decide if a map is added to there server) make a educated decision about the map.

Re: My current work

No overview map yet, will try and make one next time I update.

Name..... still undecided. One of my mates suggested calling it USA cos the outer road/river looks a bit like the shape of the usa, then the paths in the middle split it into states. haha.

Re: My current work

I'm going to be trying my mad skillz at a map as well since I have a lot of free time lately. I'm thinking more of a city setting at first and it will also have no air or armor except maybe 1 tank per team, and no artillery (you can do that right?). I've never worked with the BF2 editor so it'll probly take a while

Re: My current work

infantry-only map sounds great to me. I guess there should be mixed, armor-only and infantry-only maps for prolonging the life time of the game...
