11/03 2130-2230 PST Kubra Damn-Learn TG Squad
Learn TG squad for Chinese on Kubra
As you can tell by the title of this thread I hate this map. However, I had such a good time on it. In fact, I will venture to say that it was the best if not one of the best. I was talking with some of the guys/gals in the 2nd BCT Forum about forming a Learn TG squad for. I had been listening to the griping and complaining about the influx of new players to TG (A good thing) and thought it was time to put a foot forward and step in the limelight. You see, I don't do a lot of SL'ing. Just don't like the spotlight I guess. At first, on the previous map (Karkand) there were too many regulars there. They quickly jumped out after seeing what a crappy SL I probably was. On the next map roation I was not looking forward to Kubra Damn. We originally made a mad and sad dash for the bridge flag with no luck. We ended up falling back to the Refueling Station and quite frankly we were there for a long, long time defending. At one point we lost all the flag but the refueling station and we were getting pinched big time. Arty drops on our heads, sniper bullets, constant APC and tank assaults. The flag went white a time or two but it never turned. This was some of the most ferocious fighting I have done on BF2 and the length of time was fighting this intensely was extreme. I don't recall a lull of any kind. I only only recall being able to periodically take a literal breath. It was that awesome. I even recall using a Chesty Puller quote that we had we were surrounded and had them right where we wanted them! At one point we did get a lull (okay, I lied but it was dramatic, no?) and one of the guys on my squad asked me if he could go to the material station for the empty tank that was being ignored. He did, he got it, we had fun. We also turned the flag in the process. I had no false pretenses about being a SL for a Learn TG squad. I didn't think I was going to enlighten anyone. I just wanted to show some newer people a good time on the server. They ended showing me a good time. The one time I was asked why we were defending for so long I simply stated that if we lost this flag at that point we would probably lose the game. I swear their resolve to fight increased. At one point we under so much Tank and APC pressure that we had 6 AT kits and we needed every one of them! I had not played with any of these guys before but I hope to again. I think there was a stragler or two in there but I didn't write down their names. But these are the guys... Learn TG Squad CPI3 Rick O'shea678 Frozen Reverie Towd Phoenix TX [40oz]Jew Code I don't know if they are regulars or not. BUt I am submitting each one of these guys for a Defense Ribbon. And I hope that my nomination will be remembered in the future because fi they keep playing here they will be known. Also a shout to Nor Cal Roach for becoming the CO when we were down on tickets. He was communicative and responsive to the things I had to say or ask of.

Apart from your main, the refueling station was the only flag consistently in MEC hands. Tough to defend, you guys did a good job. Ranger consistently pumped APC rounds into that flag point just to keep you on your toes from the middle dam. Congrats for taking some of the newer guys and showing them the way.

I kept hearing, "Where is that *darn* APC?". There were rounds coming in but he was tucked away pretty good!

Re: 11/03 2130-2230 PST Kubra Damn-Learn TG Squad
Even though our side (MEC) lost 228-74, it was still fun. It was also a little frustrating in the sense that the 32 player map still plays too big for the 32 or so that were on there, but that's neither here nor there. I guess the best part was that I finally got to play on nex911's squad. He hadn't SL'd in awhile, so it was fun. Under his leadership, we held the intake for a majority of the map, with some spurts of losing it when we were ordered to attack elsewhere. I think nex would have been content to hold serve at the intake the whole round, as it is the most important flag on the MEC side.
We also swapped flags with Lucky Shot's squad the entire round, running into his squad too many times to mention. Lucky pretty much held most of the dam flags (those damn flags!) the whole round, with our occasional re-taking of one of them, as nex was worried about the intake also. nex & I both knew that Lucky was the SL, so we'd go headhunting if we even got close to him. We did get Lucky a few times, but for the most part, it seemed like he knew that we were going for him and would send all his goons at us before we would have a chance to get him. ![]() I also want to commend NorCalRoach for stepping up to the CO chair under a difficult situation, as we were already behind in tickets.

I felt bad for your squad pickle so its good to hear they still had fun. That entire round I constantly sniped your squad from the northern hill and spotted out every move you were making. Anytime someone got in the gunners position of a vehicle or stood still...bam down they went. Went 31-0. Almost died near the end since a couple of your guys were obviously unhappy and tried to sneak up on me. I think it was Rick that was right behind me one time but I heard his footsteps and quickly turned around and knifed him. Tybalt was with me for a while...he was 13-1ish. Anyway, thanks for being target practice.

Forgot to mention that I've played with Towd before; this was first the night I've seen and played with Frozen Reverie. I first played with Frozen on Wake as a fellow sm, then squad led the same squad (squad 7) with Frozen in it on Karkand. He played engineer on Karkand, and did an excellent job at helping hold the east side (I think we only lost one flag on the east side once the entire round, the cement factory, then got it back with the help of a couple of squads).

Re: 11/03 2130-2230 PST Kubra Damn-Learn TG Squad
Ugh... No one knifed Lucky. Gunrack is making this up because I put real flames on the side of his buggy when they tried to run me over. Whoever thought Lucky would carry an AT kit.
Goonsquad? Cmon, Thugs at best. Actually by the time we got to you guys, it was pretty much Ranger and myself, not a whole squad. Had a good time playing with a couple different kits including assault and wish there were maps that mimic just the Dam fight as that was some of the best kind of fighting. Multi-level, fierce at times, challenging. Lucky Shot |

Yeah, Mantis, we were surrounded by snipers too. We couldn't stay still anywhere without taking a hit. For the most part I decided to ignore the snipers. I couldn't spare a player to gun on a hunt. We needed everyone at the base. I would occasionally tell the CO to put some arty in your boots though.

Re: 11/03 2130-2230 PST Kubra Damn-Learn TG Squad
Never said anything about knifing; the Gunrack said headhunting, as in taking out the head of the squad over any of the other goons in Lucky's squad. We did do that a few times.
YourDictionary.com: headhunting 2. slang The process of attempting to remove influence and power from enemies, especially political enemies. But I really did want to knife Lucky after that buggy incident; I'm still having nightmares over that one, btw. Lucky is very, very fortunate that nex got to him first with his rifle after we respawned, cause I swear, man, I swear I was going to knife him *he says as he is running away from Lucky's mp5*. ![]()
