My Squad Last Night

Hey,

I need to remember to take screen sots because I can never remember who I played with!

However I wanted to say "Great Job"! to all the guys I was privileged to lead last night. Because of your awsome teamwork we managed to be hold the title of best squad for 3 maps and the Commander's knew it, as they seemed to throw us into every tough situation. But you guys accomplished every mission that was thrown at you.

Lots of fun,

Thanks.
P.S.
Sound off if you we're on the team!

P.P.S.
I think I'm getting the hang of SL however, it sucks having to stay alive to play "spawn point" while everyone else gets to "kick *ss and take names"!

Re: My Squad Last Night

I decided to elaborate on the maps I remember and the details:

1. The train-wreck map (forget the name, sorry but I'm doing these maps on a big-screen which sucks for detail and I can barely read any text, so i've been slow to learn the names of things). I started out having everyone spawn at the train wreck flag, thinking we would hold that initially, but we're rapidly given orders to take the courtyard instead. I think I had just created the squad and only initially had a couple of guys with me. It took us maybe 3 or 4 tries but by the time we took the courtyard from the enemy (USMC), I believe we had a full squad. We we're then ordered to attack another flag while we we're still being counter attacked at the flag we we're on so I ignored/refused that order, explaining that we we're trying to clear our own area still. I told my squad to spread out and we would hold this point, I took to the highest point of the roof (3 ladders I believe) and hunckered down so my team could spawn on me. Man they really wanted that courtyard back. They we're able to retake the flag, but I was still on the roof and my guys just kept spawning up there and I remember yelling at them "spawn with grenades and we'll nade them to hell!". I remember our commander saying to me with a kind of gleeful voice "Are you guys going to retake that flag!?", like he couldn't believe we we're still there and alive on the roof (hell, I couldn't believe it either!). My guys we're game, and they we're able to retake the flag. I think that pissed off the Marines as they must have sent at least 5 or 6 makor counter attacks and 5 or 6 arty barages our way trying to knock me off the roof.

2. The map with the carrier and the 4 coastal flags, cement plant in middle? We spawned at the airfield as I wanted to do some HALO jumps I tell the pilot "get up high where we're safe, man...it took me 5 minutes (it seemed) to land after I popped my chute we we're so high! He says "You said to go high cap!", anyway we took the village, and defended that. We helped out the other suads to the sides of us when needed and I had one squad member put C4 on the village flag and defend there while we moved out to retake the cement factory in the middle (or whatever it's called" and I told him "if you get in trouble call, we're going to defend both flags. My guys took the cement factory and we're fighting off any and all counter attacks and I hear in my headphones something about "blowing charges", I'm thinking "Oh ****" I forgot about our lone squad mate and so I radio "repeat that last, did you blow the flag?" he replied "yeah its blown" and so we mount up and charge back to help him at the village, thankfully another squad from the area had also seen what was happening and had come to help retake the flag.

3. The map with all the forested hills - We we're ordered to take and hold a village up in the north east part of the map I believe, we started out at the airfield and choppered in. The village we we're at had a helo pad/ tank and mobile aa. I found a position in the woods overlooking the village for me men to spawn on if needed and we held that village through at least 5 attacks, 3 major attacks and a lot of arty. A few times squads of infantry attempted to come in from the north overland from behind my position (the village was south of me), and we we're able to clear them out. Towards the end of the map we we're ordered to the power plant, I sent for the helo and we dropped in and took that over fairly rapidly and held that to the end.

4. Wake Island - That was fun, I remember we started at the airfield and took a chopper to the northeastern most flag to defend te push we knew was coming. We did a pretty good job of holding them off, but we eventually got pushed back to the airfield. We we're ordered to hop to the second flag northeast of the airfield and retake that town. Man we tried the west side of the beach on foot and that was a hornets nest. So ok, we'll try the east beach, just as bad! Hmmm, lets try swimming (complete and utter failure!), I can tell my squad is getting frustrated at this point so I'm thinking as hard as I can and announce "spawn at the chopper pad". We all pile in and do the HALO thing again right on the flag and are able to retake most of the island I believe.

Thats what I remember, fill in the blanks.

Re: My Squad Last Night

i think you hit it right on the spot. Squad members who's names i can remember at this hour include myself, treadstone, dfg72, marteen, cpl3(?). There were others, but i'm blanking.

We had some great piloting going on to. Flying that helo right into the dam...

anyway, it was a great run We put up quite the fight last. Yeah, from time to time, we'd get some strange orders from the commander, but sounds like you did a good job communicating the realities of the battlefield back up the chain of command.

Re: My Squad Last Night

Since I only play BF2 on the TG server now (where there are no unlockable weapons), I should ditch my stupid 1337-derivative tag "Tr34dst0n3", because it screams "12 years old". Plus, TG already has a resident member with that name.

You'll remember me as the guy who didn't say much of anything (and was barely comprehensible when I did speak up) due to a lousy non-headset mic. I have to pick up the mic to say anything which means I can keep doing one thing -- shoot, duck, or run (sort of) -- while I speak, but I can't do two.

I used to consider myself Pilot Extraordinaire in BF2 (all the way back to Desert Combat alpha), but on TG it's just more fun to stay in a squad. Plus, the opposing pilots on this server (plus ground guys competent at ant-air) means it's not such easy pickings =)

I can still fly a delightfully mean helo when required, but the crew has to trust that, indeed, I'm going to fly under that bridge (or through that building) intact and not jump to their deaths in a panic. I can't even count anymore the rounds in which I'd outlive a half-dozen gunners in an attack chopper because they kept jumping out whenever things got a bit heavy.

That said, some of the pilots on this server are probably better. On the China-US green-hills map with the oil tanks (I don't know the name), there was a Cobra that gave us holy hell for pretty much the entire time. A tank in the open was a blown up tank, thanks to those two!

Asianpower is right, our team on the Kubra [sic] Dam map was You, him, me, Cpl3 and DFG872, but the earlier maps were a different lineup before Asian showed up.

I'll be in your squad anyday, man.
