Daqing Oil Fields

I hopped into the Christmas squad(Santa led) early in game and as always the teamwork and flexibility was phenominal. We captured the Refinery flag right away, and then tried to beat the Chineese to the West Oilfield.

They beat us to it, but after a quick firefight, we took down the tank defending it and put it in US hands.

The assault on the Powerstation was intense requiring a long fire fight and close to three waves to take and it wouldn't have been possible if we didn't steal their tank. Whoever was running the other squad at this point kept his guys pressing on the flag and was a real bear to clean out. From snipers on the hill, infantry from the east and the occasional tank from the north.

About this time, Santa went CO leaving me as SL. At this point, our squad was tasked with holding the West Oilfield (Which we did EXTREMELY well) and the Powerstation (Which flipped hands quite a bit). The fighting was intense, the camraderie and dedication to the goal, solid. While we were not successful in every objective around those two flags, we received at times very intense firefights often requiring multiple waves to convert the flags to the US.

The end was nuts defending the West Oilfields as we had 2 attack choppers circling, 4 armor enter from the east and a squad of infantry attacking our flag. I was extremely proud of how our squad performed and it was a pleasure to serve alongside the likes of Gunrack, JBRanger, Jusb, Malum and Seforest. Also wanted to add in, the support we received from Santa, from tactical info, to supply crates to arty drops was phenominal. Thanks again for the good games!

Re: Daqing Oil Fields

As usmc CO i always like to put just one ful squad on the western side of the map. Often, they can control both the west oilfield and the power station alone. If one of them falls, i just put the squad on defense. They generally attract a lot of attention but almost always at least have one american flag up. Your squad did an awesome job at keeping both flags, and the only times you lost the power station was when there were at least 2 squads attacking you. Theres just something about christmas that brings the best out of people

As for the rest of the map, i kept one squad on the northeastern area and at times they held both the old city and east oilfield. I then had 2 other squads meandering between different flags to either acheive or stop ticket bleed. We probably had bleed on the enemy for about 70% of the time. I got frustrated at times though because one of my squads for a long time had a squad leader that wasnt obeying orders. At one point i just had to tell him that his squad was spread out on 3 different flags, none of which being the one they were supposed to attack.

Thumbs up Re: Daqing Oil Fields

LUCKY SHOT! Yeah, good leadership at all levels...was a memorable round.

I like how you use the term "Own" and "ours" when you refer to the flags...I do that myself and its a great motivator..."thats OUR flag...go OWN that flag"

Only we know just how many different styled attacks we fended off.....damn we're good! You have to admit the squad(s) attacking us were decent! They tried many differnt tactical maneuvers.

The teamwork was automatic and selfless. Plus, we had some experienced players that didnt have to ask which kit for each situation...it helped.

Santa, I think I know which squad you were talking about I took CO and I had one squad that did that...SOOO ANNOYING!

Anyway, 1 in the win column is a good game.

Re: Daqing Oil Fields

Fun round last night last night between the oil fields and the power station.

At one point during the attacks they tried some 'circle the base' strategy with a vehicle where they did laps around the oil field base and I think, let off soldiers to 'surround us'. Eventually they got dizzy of circling and would just drive to the flag so we could finally blow them up...good fun.

As someone on the receiving end of your attacks on the PowerStation let me say, it was intense to say the least. At in-between the Santa's arty strikes, the air strikes, and your squad continuing to pound us it some times felt as if you guys had the entire USMC zeroing in on us. It made for a great game.

Re: Daqing Oil Fields

That reminds me, props to whomever was in charge of my chopper squad. They seemed eager for orders, and any order i gave was followed in seconds.

The reason it probably felt like the entire USMC was attacking the power station was because nobody on the chinese was attacking except on the western side. Because of this i sent my choppers to the power station a lot, and the UAV was over luckys squad a hell of a lot as well.

Re: Daqing Oil Fields

Always fun, and intense, on the Lucky Shot Express. Much props to the OpFor for bringing it 100%, all the time, everytime, including several head-on moves, flanking moves, fast attack moves, tanks, arty strikes, gunships, and bomber jets. Pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. Tough to handle, to be sure, but our squad's selfless determined teamplay under the great SLing of Lucky Shot, combined with excellent commanding by Santa, helped our team to never lose the West Oilfield, and at times, to take and hold the Powerstation. Great job all around.
