upgrade question

I have 2.4c p4 800mhz fb, 1gig 400mhz, radeon sapphire atlantis 256mb vid card. My FPS with all settings low is about 50 on a good day but I average about 40-45. I have a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 754 socket. I know the 939 socket is better but the price was right, FREE. If I increased my mem to 2gigs and went to the Athlon chip would it make a signifigant overall performance improvement. I'm thinking about going with the Asus k8n nforce 3 mobo. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

You don't tell us what video card you have (Sapphire makes more than one card you know

) but with a 2.4GHz P4 you are more than likely being held back by your 3d card, not your memory or your proc. Upgrading would make a difference but you'd be better off going with a 6800 GT first.
