How "smart" is the average TGer.
I personally read this just fine on my first try.

Re: How smart is the average TGer.
That you can read it doesn't mean it should be written that way.
There's enough context that you can generally decipher the correct word, but it requires additional effort and slows down the reader. It would be interesting to see comparative timings. The point of good spelling and grammar is to make the coding as transparent (easy to read) as possible so that the reader need only worry about the content. When I read, I believe I have "templates" loaded in my occipital lobes that match the visual appearance of words. I don't have to sound out each word, but instead match a template to a sentence fragment and collect the meaning of the entire fragment in one gulp. Fast readers have larger templates that can match more stuff in one shot. When you misspell, you force the reader to switch from template-based reading to the old sound-it-out method. The examples above are kinda like running your CPU with the cache turned off.
