Effects in the editor

Whenever I try to add any staticfx (in this case, waterfalls, but it does the same thing for all effects) the effect only plays for about 2 seconds when I add it in the editor and then becomes invisible. I thought this was a "feature" of the beta editor but when I open maps like FuShe Pass I can see and play around with the already existing waterfalls and the animation never disapears.

I've decided to just try to guesstimate the placement of my waterfalls and check in game if it'd show up, but while doing that I discovered another problem. I cannot seem to have more than 1 of any effect at a time. If i copy the waterfall and paste it, it simply moves it. If i drag a new copy of it from the staticfx folder, it moves the exisiting one. I just can't get multiple instances of the same effect in my map at the same time.

Any help very much appreciated

P.S. Also, how do I get the window that shows the errors while loading a map? my map crashes while loading objects and I want to know what is causing it.

Re: Effects in the editor

I haven't tried waterfalls but I suggest you read this http://bfeditor.gotfrag.com/forums/v...rfall&start=15 topic. It covers about everything.

Only thing I have seen which might not be in there to do with the crash, only rotate the waterfall on the X axis, tilting it will cause errors.

Second this, run BF2 in windowed mode and it will show errors.

wow im retarded. All this time I've been adding the sound effects from the effects/staticfx folder instead of the actual graphical effect from staticobjects/ambianteffects =/

LOL don't worry about it, I wouldn't have a clue what to do if it wasn't for tutorials and forums.

Search is your friend :-)

Even when you don't get the topic you want theres normally a topic that has a link to what you want.
