Karkand 04 MEC

I was the CO for this map, MEC. I had a untested plan and a set of good squads. I figured I could implement it. For those who dont know the plan was hold surburbs, hold east end. Hit there assets.

For most of the map we held it perfectly and SLOWLY but surely we worked out of our deficit, we gained a lead of about 30 tickets when the surburbs got dropped. Then the lead started sliding down, repeated attempts at crossing and then BOOM the warehouse fell.

All hell broke loose as my excellent squads defended wave after wave of troops while the excellent squad 5 ( one man ) took a few of the flags to the east. We kept them in the warehouse and our ticket lead grew but I was still anxious there was 15 minutes and if the factory fell it could still swing either way.

Finally time winded down and 83 - 6 victory. EXCELLENT teamwork on MEC and Wulfyn kept it coming for the entire match!

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

It was insane. I was in Wulfyn's squad (I think...).

Our armor column destroyed the suburbs (2x APCs with 2x engineer, next to 2x supply drops, hehehe). However, by the time we rolled into the gatehouse, about half your team seemed to be anti-tank.

The river stand off took longer than usual to break. Great job to both sides.

Karkand fun

Just wanted to say that tonight, i had definately one of if not the most fun times playing Karkand. I was MEC with an awesome squad and an awesome SL Jaymind. We made a TOUGH stand at the river crossing and only till the last 10 min or so did they get across.

We had all avenues covered, we had ammo packs down, mines down, engies repairin, i was healin pretty much everyone i could (i think i finally took my gun out around halfway through lol)

They pushed REAL hard on the land bridge but we held our ground fantasically time and time again. I also have to thank our commander Azreal for some awesome arty. Even after they got across, no way did we let them have the factory.

Everyone was talkin, our squad was clickin and it was prolly the most fun ive ever had on bf2. Thanx guys. TG forever!

EDIT - sorry, posted in wrong forum

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

This was my first real team play game. I was in a squad that change SL I think a couple of times but DRJones666 was it most of the game. I have got to get a mike/headset rig !! Listening to his orders and directions was a great change from the public servers I have been playing on. It really made me feel like a member of a team with a real purpose. I hope I was able to contribute it some way. I had a BLAST !!!!!
We ended up loosing but it sure wasn't for trying, crossing that bridge / water was a chore but we finally made it !

Thanks for letting me work with the team !

Re: Karkand fun

Welcome aboard guys!
Yeah, that game was a LOT of fun. Pure adrenalyne pumping action! Thanks to all players in my squad, it was cool playing with you. It really felt like we were all in this together.
Kudos to our CO on USMC (sorry, I have a memory blank- can't remember your name). You did a great job, especially trying to coordinate those massive attack on crossing the river at the land bridge. It was very exciting!

I'm glad to see all those new players, and thanks for posting in the forum as well!

Cheers!

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

I had a total blast. I couldnt believe i was #1 on my team but i guess thats what happens when all you do is heal and revive lol. Speciially on that map. Im sure the snipers where gettin really annoyed at me reviving all their kills mwahaha.

Great arty on the river azreal. It stopped a lot of their attacks. We had one HELL of a fight at the factory. They had guys comin in from every directions. Big props for holdin it out. Cant wait to do it again :-)

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

i was the squad leader on the suburb, and i couldnt believe how little they attacked us with for the majority of the game. At the beginning, we had quite a bit of action and held em off for a long time and got a lot of tickets off of them. Eventually we lost it and got an APC from the factory. Wed go across, take the suburb and set up another defense. This happened a few times. The last time they took it they had 2 APCs with engies in them as well as 2 supply boxes. AT just couldnt do anything, and eventually an arty blast took us out. In hindsight, i should have had everyone spawn AT and fire at the same time.

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

I was also in Jaymind's squad and he did an excellent job of holding the southern half of the river and eventually the Factory.

That was an intense fight at the river crossing. We were ordered to hold the land bridge for most of the round. We had two APCs and a tank blasting anything that came close to crossing. Plus we had mines as a backup. I have to tip my hat to the USMC that made several valiant charges across the land bridge. On one big push they had a tank, two APCs, and a load of infantry advancing behind them. Fortunately for us, and unfortunately for them, we had equal armor, ATs, and mines waiting for them. They made several more worthy efforts to get across, but we were dug in too well. Eventually we had to dismantle our insurmountable defenses and recover a rear base. At that point it was a crazy scramble to hold the Factory and retake the Cement Factory.

I also have to tip my hat to Azreal for making the best use of artillery I have ever seen. He wasn't just wise with his choice of targets, but his timing was excellent. The USMC were using the square behind the railcars as a staging area for their river crossings. Several times they were just getting their armor rolling across the tracks to come charging down the land bridge, when BAM, the first of many artillery shells fell, destroying their armor column.

It was a battle well fought by both the MEC and USMC.

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

You did good, Azreal. I was in Rico's MEC squad, and we spent most of our round around the Gatehouse. We started out at the train accident, but were ordered to move back after a minute or two. A few of our guys got restless and wanted to go attack the suburbs or something, kinda doubting what you were doing. When around 500 tickets were left, I said, "See, we didn't attack, and we've just taken the lead." A few minutes later, they were wanting to attack some more when the USMC sent a bunch of guys across the northern part of the river and I said, "See guys, that's why he needs us here!" I think they started to understand the whole defense thing towards the end, and I don't think we ever lost the Gatehouse (not that it was ever really heavily attacked though).

Our guys were questioning why we weren't going against the trainwreck, and I'd say something about how Azreal was happy just bleeding deaths from them as a new screenfull of arty deaths popped up. It was so cute how the USMC was sticking so close together

USMC had a good push across that river a few times. All 3 armor pieces combined with a messload of troopers. It was kinda cool watching them all stream across from the middle island, as I fired my AT rockets at the armor as quickly as I could.

I would like it if bleed were reintroduced to that map though..

Re: Karkand 04 MEC

I was SLing. A rare occurence i know. Most of the map we were holding the land bridge and the train accident for Wulfyn but when one of the other squads took the warehouse we went got orders to attack the factory. After a couple of unsucessful attempts at a frontal assault, we snuck around the back and got on the factory roof. Everything went fine until Born_Brittle tried to drop C4 off the roof. One of them had stuck on the edge of the building and when he blew it it took out the whole squad.

We lost the east side pretty soon after that and it was back to the train accident for the rest of the game. Big props to me squad members, Born_Brittle, FPS_Douglas, Faultline, J.Canavar, and whoever i forgot(bad with names) for putting up with my noobish SLing for a whole map.

BTW. I agree with Perry. Karkand needs bleed again.
