Sunday night, karkand

I was the MEC CO for that round. Right off the bat i told all the squads that i wanted to hold the east side and the suburb. Beatnik volunteered to defend the south land bridge, and i told drunkn to defend the northern bridge. The rest of the team was on the suburb. This probably looked REALLY weird on tempus scan because absolutly nobody was on the hotel, square, or train station.

Near the beginning, one APC broke through and actually turned the factory USMC, but we managed to regroup and take it back. After that we defended the east and suburb for quite some time. Finally a break through did occur and it caused both our squads on the east to fall back and clean up. This resulted in a lot of US forces pushing east and they took the cement factory. Beatniks squad was on the factory and kept them from getting it, while the rest of the squads defended the warehouse and gatehouse. USMC could hardly move, so we still had a "ticket bleed" against them. The only way they could take one more flag from us was to send overwhelming forces to a flag, while leaving the flag they left open. Whenever this happened we were quick to react and move to create several kill zones at the warehouse and then later on at the gatehouse.

Meanwhile, we had 2 squads on the west side causing trouble and attracting attention. Sassy's squad did an awesome job of attracting LOADS of attention at the hotel, and stayed alive longer than they should have. This made it a lot easier on the eastern side becasue the US had no armor over there, and less troops. Drunknsouls squad moved out from the warehouse and took the gaurdhouse, which got all 4 eastern flags finally back under our control. With time winding down, i told every squad to move across the river and see what happens because the river standoff probably quickly got boring. Im not sure what score the end result was, but it was a MEC victory by over 100 at least.

Big props to all the squad leaders for being VERY communicative with me, by giving information and suggestions to me all the time. It was also pretty fun to crack some jokes with some of the SLs

Re: Sunday night, karkand

Right away I knew something was up when the Hotel was empty and the Square was easily taken. I remembered that in a forum thread you said that you had some stuff you wanted to try as MEC CO. Nice job communicating the plan to all of the squads before the round actually opened.

This round showed how MEC can win at Karkand, you have to let USMC advance a little bit on the eastern side, but keep them from getting beyond your control. The MEC armor was all over the place killing everyone.

Re: Sunday night, karkand

I want to say sorry to everyone I ran over in the tank. I must have TK'd 10 people like that, I don't know what was happening. I really wasn't trying to TK anyone. I'm really ashamed of that, I've never had such a horrible TK streak like that before, especially not running over people. People were just so packed around the port I couldn't go 2 minutes w/o someone running infont or aback of me getting squished. Sorry again, and thanks for not punishing me...

Re: Sunday night, karkand

No worries JOlin. You did a great job in my squad.

Good job at CO Santa. Yeah that match just illustrated the fundamental importance of NOT losing the MEC main base. That first APC broke through really quick, and we were pretty lucky to get the CP back before too many people spawned in and controlled our armor and assets.

The TG LEARN squad did really well on defense, charging the occassional squad who sneaked into the factory area. You guys were rapid response the whole game and were very effective in controlling the MEC armor and getting big kills when they came over to the east.

Towards the end there were a fun few skirmishes in that charge across the river. That's probably my favorite part of the game lately - the all out melee attack at the end by the winning team.

Nice work santa...Good strategy and it paid off once the USMC started to become agressive. I thought it was funny like in the middle of the game you just randomly say: "thank god for beatnik" in a mummbled tone. I think while u were engaging the troop that was at the factory, you squad was playing agressive defense and saw that the flag was clear so they were able to neutralize the gaurdhouse even without me. Then when I ask where you wont us to set up shop, your like "oh snap, we got the entire east side." Talk about a sloww commander. Haha. Nice strategy on both Karkands (USMC the other time and MEC this time). Good work by all squads and my squadmembers.

P.S. It was indeed a 80 (i think) point lead. Also Beatnik...this isnt school anymore you dont have to double space!

That was fun. Props to my squad, they were put through the meat grinder the whole time. And I must admit, Tempus is starting to sound a lot like Bommando when he talks to non-compliant squads

GG Santa.. I hate your arty. Good use taking tons of us out on the other side of the river.

When the USMC gets bogged down in a river battle, they are screwed. Arty hitting highly concentrated targets, MEC armor being very close, 2 choke points to exploit on defence. The only way I can see breaking the stalemate is an arty strike on the river crossing ramp followed by a concentrated punch through of all the armor (maybe a jeep to go through first to take out mines/C4). Otherwise USMC gets picked off by sniper fire/APC/arty.

Either that or letting the MEC have the Train Wreck. Bait 'em and create a kill zone.

Re: Sunday night, karkand

That was a tough round. Even though we had a foothold on the east side, we were still losing more tickets than we were taking. And once we were pushed off, it just degenerated into the old river stalemate (which seems to favor the MEC).

Santa's arty was absolutely brutal, though.

Re: Sunday night, karkand

Yeah I kept seeing Santa get 6+ arty kills every time. I definitely had arty envy that game. Even though it doesn't count toward your CO points, it's a thing of beauty when you catch multiple squads unawares.

One thing I forgot to call out - getting to C4 JMJ and 3 of his guys on the MEC main flag. It was like Freaky Friday - he's done that to me so many times that it was great to finally reverse the situation. Now I just gotta pull that one off another 10 times and we'll be even.

I think thats when i said "thank god for beatnik" because without that C4 the factory was lost.

I think the MEC can afford to lose the cement factory or gaurdhouse, but only one of those. The warehouse is ok to lose, but it poses too big a threat to the factory. If the MEC lose 2 bases on the east side then your gonna be in for a lot of trouble. What helped us out a ton, and what i didnt really plan on from the beginning, were the squads on the west side diverting a lot of the USMC armor. This meant that all our armor could be used to wipe out loads of infantry on the east side without opposing armor.

I was in Sassy's squad and it was a blast. Like Santa said we were at the Hotel way longer than we should have. We repelled many attacks and held firm against some small teams. Sassy provided a good spawn point for the squad, along with good leadership. Supposedly it was her firs time being a SL, she was like a vet out there. Props to Sassy and the rest of the squad.

I didn't see anyone around, I was pretty sure we were going to get that flag. I was in an APC and the other guys were on the ground. All the sudden BOOM! Beatnik got me
