Was a great night again…Thanks to Wussypoo, TG Luuser, TG Phelan_Ward, and DustinMichaels…on the T.V. station defense…I have never played that map and NOT had the T.V. station flag taken…But Squad ( 7 ) … that’d be my squad with the above members…held it ALL night…had some help from Snipe squad ( 1 ) at start but they moved off, yet still spotted for us…I must say that had to be one of the best Defensive games I have played…I know most folks don’t like to sit and defend. But we did it for the entire map and swatted off attacks from more then one direction most of the night…it was GREAT…nice tank work Wussypoo…and Phelan_Ward, NICE placement of mines in the entrance. Luuser, Dustin, awesome job of supporting the defense from the T.V. post and ramp…It was great.
Thanks to Squad ( 5 ) … Luckyshots command, they hit the alley way enough at the end to help take the heat off of us…and squad ( 1 ) you snipers were great on the spotting…thanks again…to the other squads…very well played. FISHROY ! ! Man, that was great command work…we were ummm…114 tickets down when you jumped into the commander spot I think and brought us back to win with a + of 121 tickets I believe…very nice work. Another Great night on TG… Otthawk1 |

Re: T.V. station defense
We just finished a round of SM on Devil's Gulch when Leonidas, Fuzzy and myself headed up the 42nd Recon squad (squad 5). At that point the US had firm grasps on the City Entrance, and the TV station. After defending against the first couple waves at the City Entrance, we set out and captured the Surveillance post under the watchful eye of a friendly tanker. After that, we set out and captured/defended the Alleyway. Watched the UAV and noticed the Surveillance post was undefended and recapped that flag to steal momentum away from their push on the city entrance. After that, we bounced from flag to flag with the heaviest of fighting at the Alleyway and the Hotel flags.
I did have a couple of new guys in the squad tonight and did not write down their names. Please, if you did run in my squad, PM me with feedback as to how we did. As a side note, I only played half the level, yet ended up with a Bronze Star. I had the 7th or 8th most points on my team, 15-16th overall and did not feel that myself or Leonidas (Squadmate) deserved those based off of half a round. I asked Icky in the past what would cause that and am curious to hear how the medals are determined. Thanks for all those who served in the 42nd Recon Squad and those other squads who fought alongside us. Lucky Shot ![]() Please note that Thundeer, Delta Swift, Mairon all had more points and deserved the medals before I did. If anyone can hazard a guess, I would love to hear it. Re: T.V. station defense
That really was quite the flag-hop game. Both teams seemed to be very mobile, as most flags we took fell to the enemy as soon as we left to engage the enemy elsewhere. Props to Lucky Shot and Fuzzy, you guys did a bang-up job. Forgive my not remembering the names of the rest of the squad, as they were non-regulars.
The allocation of medals is indeed interesting, as I have noticed it myself. Once in a while I do not get a medal when it is due and other times I get one when someone else got a higher score. I do not know why this is, and would like to know why, if anyone has any idea why this happens.

Re: T.V. station defense
I have several comments about tonight's battles (OpFor):
1) Having your head blown off and your corpse sent sailing 100 feet in the air by tank is demoralizing enough. Imagine what it's like when you see that the driver's name is "Wussypoo." 2) Sassy did a great job SLing when we lacked a commander for the first half of the round. At one point the MEC held all the flags but one. She also made a valiant effort as a CO once the US got organized and had us bleeding. 3) My experience as a medic tonight on Karkand and Sharqi can be summed up in one phrase: "Florence Nightingale ain't got shtuff on me!" 4) The USMC made a hell of a comeback on Sharqi. Bravo!

Re: T.V. station defense
Thanks for the props on the command work. I don't command a lot and when I do it is great to have great squads like yours Otthawk. The whole USMC team did a great job jumping around and eventually we got position on the MEC. Kudos to all the USMC for coming back from such a large defecit. I'd be proud to be your commander any time!

Re: T.V. station defense
Other two charts:
![]() ![]() I was in the sniper squad(1) with tau_neutrino that was led by E.Wilson1986. First half of the game we faced wave after wave at the tv station mostly from the north route. The whole time the chopper was tubing away overhead.(:/) Eventually though the chopper went silent and right on cue the US starting to push the MEC back.(finally getting a commander certainly helped as well!) A bit later though the MEC chopper showed up again but this time the US had it? UCB stolen? Did we have it the whole time it went 'silent' or did the MEC just stop using it? I imagine the MEC hated that round once that happened. One chopper going overhead in an urban map is bad enough but two is just nasty. They did get it back but by then we had a huge lead and it was about over. |

Re: T.V. station defense
Everytime you reply to an AAR and post the score charts, I wait impatiently for someone to reply saying...
"FBMantis is so lame! He just posted that to show off his score!" ...just so I can reply back with: "His score is almost always awesome. What do you expect him to do? Black out his own score?"

Re: T.V. station defense
That round was weird for my squad...Our entire team (USMC) was sitting at the TV station for over half the round while my squad played whack-a-flag. The second we'd leave a flag for another it would get retaken, and we'd just run around the map capping flags till we decided to just hold the City Entrance and get kills. By then we were 80 tickets down, but once we got a CO that could scan and see where people would be attacking TV station from some more of our team started taking flags and we came back to win.

Re: T.V. station defense
I was leading a squad and we were attacking the tv station.
We got close a couple of times, but my guys never seemed to be able to put pressure on the def since we'd tend to get pinned down north of the tv tower. We nearly got it once, when using two squads to attack. I do have to say that in my opinion, the fact that we didnt have a commander for most of the round made it nearly impossible, ill explain why: As soon as we approached the tv tower, we were spotted, and had a tank+heli heading for us. nearly impossible to get through there. Then when a second squad joined the assault, to my dismay, they attacked from the same side as my squad.... cannon fodder..Its really hard to attack when the other guys have a uav and you havent got a commander. Then I realized we'd never be able to take it alone and went elsewhere. Still, good job defending. I also want to thank my squad for sticking with me, it was quite a frustrating round. Ps: french fries are from belgium (like the wafels), NOT from France (or from "freedom" ).

Re: T.V. station defense
Otthawk is right on. Every time I am in Sharqi as US, I try to get my squad to defend the TV station. I believe it is the key to the map. And you would think its easy to defend, but it has proved to be an impossible task thus far. Great job, Otthawk. Next time the rotation swings through the lovely seaside resort of Sharqi, DEFEND THIS POSITION.

Re: T.V. station defense
You're welcome, Ott.
And you said it. The greatest squads are the ones that follow orders and don't complain, even when asked to defend for ten minutes w/o much action. Although it sounds like you guys had quite a bit of heat at the Station. Man I can't wait to fight again. Countdown to Inlaw visit ending: 5 days, 22 hours. Ruff. Till then, my only link to the action is these AARs. Keep em coming.
