Suggestions

As you may have noticed the anarchic "working on TG irregulars thread" has closed. There are now seperate areas for the debate of name, crest, recruitment and motto. This thread is to serve as the base for debate about other aspects of the irregs. I know whiskey six raised some points about the direction this group would be taking which were swallowed up by other topics and debate. This would be a nice home for such issues and posts such as that by ABRA regarding training and acclimation of new TGers which did not receive the attention and discussion they deserved.

Re: Suggestions

What do you think about having everyone form up into "buddy" squads, to keep each other updated on the goings on at TG, not so much a Squad type deal, but more of a "buddy" type squad, to look after each other as far as information goes. As far as scrims, the squads would not exist, but at least they can keep each other informed. Just an idea, you know, keep it so they are "paired" within time zone and location, or by preference.

Re: Suggestions

Thats a good idea. I was hoping that certain people would see each other on the servers on a regular basis and more natural squads would appear than the purely random administrative ones that were created. Information shouldnt be too hard to come by now we have this forum but groups who saw each other and played regularly would be much more effective at disseminating tactics and would be a much stronger unit to take into scrims etc.

As to exactly how these "buddy groups" would take shape im not sure. If we tried to break down the roster into time zones this would again be very arbritary. E.g: Im in the UK time zone but am often on at strange times due to all the graveyard shifts i do. I imagine this has to come from the community itself. For example, a few times recently i have seen squads which are almost totally Irr. If we start creating irr squads on server 1 then people can see who they regularly play with. If anyone sees a squad regularly fight together and it seems to work well, then stick a message over VOIP saying "fancy making this a buddy group?". Unless you or anyone else has a more concrete and effective way of implementing this, the only way i see this being brought on line effectively is through server time and seeing what shakes together.....

Re: Suggestions

*About the "buddygroups".
I allready know a few people from the -=[dMw]=-forum and allready have them on my Xfire account.
I do try playing with them on servers. People like Dewey and Ranger play also on/for -=[dMw]=-. Maybe teaming them up is a smart thing to do?

*Maybe a thread here for all Xfire accounts of all the Irr?

A list of Xfire names can be found on the Irregulars roster here.

Re: Suggestions

My suggestion would be that once a week let's create a thread that lists the entire schedule for the next week (or 2 weeks?). Now the important part, STICKY and LOCK the thread and only unlock it to post updates or better yet, just edit the one message. That will give us a single place to check in order to figure out changes and such. I can see that not everyone wants to spend 20 minutes searching threads to figure out when everything is which is very understandable. I would even volunteer to put this together every week although I don't have any power to lock threads or anything like that.

Made up example:

Heading "Irregular Team Schedule for 1/29 - 2/4"

2/03 Practice 6:00 EST (Pilots Only, Dogfight practice)
2/05 Scrim Match 8:30 EST (We need 10 members!! Please post in scrim match thread to confirm your attendance)
2/10 Scrim Match -

Re: Suggestions

Yep i have heard this mentioned several times and it is a very good idea. I have not yet had the time to do anything about it though. Seforest, if you want to start collating that information into a thread and then post it up you can pm fuller about making it a sticky. You can then just add a new post once or twice a week to reflect the new upcoming events. I think this will do a lot for the efficiency and visibility of events management.

Re: Suggestions

How about you pick a partner? Say you can go along with a specific person a lot, or your kits work like a charm together (or you speak the same language/ same time zone)? Say you are Spec Ops and the other is Assault, (smoke + C4) this would be a great AT team within a squad.
That way if a tank is attacking the squad, the SL can say: "AT Team! Get that tank"
Or that the spec ops guy says "ok mr. assault, lets go".
Dunno if its anything useful though.
