Exclamation New to TG Need Info Please

I just signed up for TG and have some basic questions about BF2.
I have been playing online for about two weeks now and have the following observations. I would like to know if my experience on the TG servers will be better (hopefully).
1. I have found that most gamers "do their own thing" even though they are part of a squad - there's no coordination.
2. The level of command competence is pretty basic (attack this position, go here) and in some cases non-existent.
3. Too may gamers are into "bunny hopping" which is very annoying (and totally unrealistic).
4. Too many times I have emptied a clip of heavy ammo into another player at fairly close range only to have him take me down with a couple of shots. it seems that their servers do not have an accurate position of all the players so the person I am shooting at is not really there but maybe a couple of feet away so the server "sees" my shots as misses (well this is my non-technical explanation).

Can anyone give me any idea if my experience on TG will be better? I want to participate in a more realistic game where:
The leadership and direction is competent.
The squad members know what their role is and will help and cover each other.
I hit what I'm aiming at.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Alan

Oh - you have NO idea what you are in for do you?

You've pretty much found the anti-pubbie. Teamwork is required, and by the simple fact that you sought out TG, you probably value a better gaming experience through teamwork and found it.

Its a friendly bunch with very high standards for gameplay..

Welcome! Be sure to get into a lot of the recommended reading - stickies and what-not.. there is a lot of info to absorb but it'll all make sense with time..

Re: New to TG Need Info Please

Thanks guys I feel at home already. I have to get set up with a microphone (they're required right). Any special mike or software (e.g. Teamspeak) required? Do I join a noobie squad for training - what's the protocol?
Thanks again.

Re: New to TG Need Info Please

microphones are not require, you can still play without one, but if you have one your experience is more....TS is a good have because you can get ahold of an admin if needed and the between game chatter goes on there...

join any squad you like and sometimes there is a squad called TGlearn that helps people learn more about TG.....join a squad that has a few TG players in it and let them know you are new and they willl be more then glad to help....

Re: New to TG Need Info Please

Thanks Trooper. Sorry if I'm being pedantic with my questions (and if you can point me to a place where I can get all the technical info I need then great). Where do I get Teamspeak? Is it a free download and how does it integrate with BF2?
Thanks again for your patience.

Re: New to TG Need Info Please

i believe its http://www.goteamspeak.com/

and it works good....use the forum search and look for the TSO...

run TS in the back ground and it works great......

TS information can be found by searching for Teamspeak info

you can always find an answer to anything useing the search

Hi Alan, welcome to TG! While I can't promise that every single round you play here will be what you're looking for, I can say that it is what we try to aim for!

Our server rules require that everyone be in a squad and actively participate in the squad. This does not allow someone to join up and simply run around doing what they where they want. They need to listen to their SL and try to accomplish the objective assigned.

As for commander competence.. We have a hard enough time getting the CO seat filled, nevermind being able to insure that both teams have Patton or Bradley in the chair. What we do require is that a commander dedicate himself/herself to commanding and not flying a jet or driving a tank. With experience will come skill, so I encourage anyone that is interested in commanding to step up, as long as they are willing to try to command. I hope that makes some sense

Bunny hopping / crackjumping is not allowed on our servers. This does not mean that you will never see someone jumping around like they're on a pogo stick. It does mean that you can report the person to an admin for breaking a rule (which, for something like that, is usually best done over TeamSpeak (that link will give you just about everything you need to know for using TS here) so it can be dealt with right away).

I think number 4 is just the way BF2 is. Sometimes you'll be the guy that empties the clip, sometimes you'll be the one that turns and kills someone. Some nights you can be either guy for the entire night. Heh.

This is what we aim for. This is our utopia. It is what we work towards. Give us a try, I think you'll find our servers to be a breath of fresh air compared to what you find on most other servers.

www.teamspeakoverlay.com

This isn't teamspeak itself, rather a program that makes TS alot easier to use in game.
