Tips on Making New |TG-Irr| Profiles

Here's a tip or two for everyone as you make your new profile: If you want to capture your key remap settings/joystick settings/video settings easily you can copy the Controls.con file in your My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles folder from one profile to the other. Likewise with Audio.con, Video.con and General.con (which has things like your T1 vs LAN settings).

Also, do not touch the Profile.con, which contains your account name and password logins.

For pete's sake, save a backup of any files you replace. The profiles are numbered 0001, 0002, etc. and the windows file system will get confused as to the created/modified dates since all of the profiles have the same file names inside -- which means there is no intuitive way to tell which is your new profile and which is your old.

I accidentally overwrote my "good" settings with the new defaults from my Irr account. It was a painful mistake, because I remap everything.

I recommend going into the profiles area before making the new account, and copying the files (minus Profile.con) to the desktop or somewhere equally handy. Then enter BF2, create the new account, quit, and replace the new set of files. Should be quick and easy.

Good luck mates!

Yay, thanks! I think the only thing I've changed are the graphics options and the crosshair color, but this will save me at least 10 seconds.

That's ten seconds more that you can play BF2!

You guys will all need to reset your bf2ID in your forum profiles with your new identity to get reserved slots.

Looks like this works pretty fast. As soon as I added mine in I was able to join the busy 64/64 server.
