Special Forces?

I know I'm probably asking a question with an easy answer.

But, is it worth the extra $30? Anyone else playing it? What new things have been added what has been taken away?

I'm thinking of picking it up but I want to know should I just hold off on it for a bit.

Re: Special Forces?

It's only played 1 day a week and personally I don't think it's worth it but that's just me.

Re: Special Forces?

I did not like it at first, it had to powerful weapons and small maps. But after playing a few times with TG on wednesdays and starting to learn the game. Its really worth the money. The new levels and all the new gadgets increases the options of your gameplan and strategy. I see it becoming better and better as people learn how to play it.

And whats 30 bucks. I play battlefield countless hours every week for months and it cost me 50 bucks I would spend that kind of money on one movie night with my wife..

BF2 could easily be a subscribtion service if they though of it. But for the number of hours enterainment every wednesday with TG is definetly worth it.

And did I mention LOTS of infantry combat

Re: Special Forces?

I got it when it first came out and only played it a few times. I thought it was a pretty big waste of money until last Wednesday when we got a decent group on. Now I appreciate it for its variety. It's a nice change of scenery from vanilla BF2.

It is a different game play. You will have to decide for yourself. We are trying to get the SF server populated so Wed. nights is SF night. Come join us.

Re: Special Forces?

I really enjoy Special Forces: it's different enough from Battlefield 2 that you can try out whole new tactics and stuff, but it's still similar in that it really rewards teamplay. The only problem is that TG only plays it once or twice a week. I think it's a no-brainer as far as whether it's a good expansion, but you have to make up your mind for yourself if it's worth it to buy if you'll only play it a little.

Re: Special Forces?

We do not have to play it just once a week. get some people involved and populate the server. People will join when they see others on it.

Re: Special Forces?

its fun i like it alot better then bf2... but xinks right this game has a half fast feel to it. i think some of the weapons were suppost to be in the vanilla bf2 but they eather didnt have enough time to put them in or they just wann milk us. they could of at least gave the insurgents ak-47s come on i think the ak 101 would cost alot more and yeah i never seen insurgents have ak 101. half fast if u ask me

Re: Special Forces?

I refuse to support Dice/EA in their expansion releases when its obvious to everyone there are still rather large flaws in the coding of their main game...

Re: Special Forces?

I'm gonna pick the game up this upcoming weekend. I'm also going to buy BF2 for my brother as he wants to play. And don't worry. I'll be informing him that TG is where it's at.

Re: Special Forces?

I think it was worth it for me just for the change in maps i was playing on. Had a blast playing it on TG. Others have valid points too though.

Re: Special Forces?

Not to start a discussion. But I just dont get the complaing about the main game or the expansion. Of course its not perfect but which game is and its not like we have to pay per month or anything. I think its cheap and fun entertainment and a good quality product considering what it can handle.

Maybe I am just biased because I am swedish and DICE is swedish..

I have not had this fun with a compter game in a long long long long time. Last time was when DOOM came out..

I've gotta agree. Last time I had this much fun online was when I played Day of Defeat. I got out of the whole online gaming scene because after a while teh DoD servers became full of "Bunny" Hoping trash talking Tking whiners.

This game is great compared to DoD.

And even though today I've had a lot of problems getting connected I'm still going to come back tomorrow night and play again.

Same. all games these days have bugs... its not ineptitude.. its because they are hugely detailed games far more complex than the games you remember that didn't have bugs. Doesn't the BF2 team have up to 300 people that work on the game throughout its production?

If you wanted a game without bugs you could wait another 2 years while they ironed them out, which usually ends up as a game obsolete on its first day.

For me BF2 runs very well, and a few IFF bugs aside it is what I expected and more. SF is pretty well done, worth the $22 I payed for it. 4 of the 6 maps are very strong and the ziplines and grapple are something I miss everytime I play vanilla again.
