DNR (Do not revive) lock/button!

Ever been in that frustrating moment where you really want to respawn as something else or somewhere else but some unsuspecting do-gooder revives you (usually in front of an enemy tank!)?

...I know, this sounds very ungrateful, but sometimes I hear myself shrieking 'do not revive me - DO NOT REVIVE ME!'!

Pity you couldn't have a 'DNR' button where you could lock yourself from being revived - which would show a appropriate icon so medics wouldn't even try to revive you.

...Just a thought!

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's basically (and sometimes, sadly) up to the medic. If he is good at his job, he should know when and where it is SAFE to revive, and when to give up on you. Pubbie servers are notorious for medics reviving on the fly. As long as they get their whatever color medic badge, who cares if the revived dies again. On TG I havent been revived into total chaos. Unless I was SL and someone covered while the medic revived me.

A nice thing to do as medic is to constantly keep your eyes on the kill messages, as these list the weapon used. When you see your guys getting butchered by armor, don't rush out and revive 'em.

Just hit the "suicide" button once the medic revivs you; it kills you dead.

Isn't there a way that you can make yourself "un-revivable," by deselecting or selecting a new spawn point once you die? Or something like that? I thought I remember hearing something about that during my old pubbie days.

Suside button will keep you dead... but I also believe you can keep the spawn map up and you cant be revived... or I've had a few instances where I was not revived while I've had the menu up

Re: DNR (Do not revive) lock/button!

There's been times where I've been totally out of ammo with the AT kit and there's no hope of resupply, just trying to finish off with the pistol, and someone keeps reviving me.

Then hit suicide! It's not tough!

From a "take one for the team" perspective that makes sense, Tycho. But suicides are negative points, so one might be less inclined to do it if they are not in that mindset.

Let's say the spawn timer is 15 seconds. So I am out of ammo and die, wait for 12 seconds, and am revived while picking my next spawn point. It takes me a couple of seconds to close the spawn screen, during which I am killed again. Now I have to wait another 15 seconds - at least.

I don't understand why you are opposed to having a no-revive button.

I don't think he's opposed to the idea. I think he feels that suicide is something we can use instead since a no-revive button doesn't exist yet.

Yeah, I don't care if there's a no revive button. Go ahead and put in a "wave white flag" button, a "sneeze" button, a "blink" button, and a "shoot guy in the face" button. I don't care; I can unbind them. The point is you can just suicide if you don't want to be revived. And points don't matter at all on TG. Even on non-TG servers, they barely change anything.

The suicide button doesn't adress the problem of being revived when you don't want to. I'm already dead, so how can I suicide?

I find something distasteful about suiciding. I don't know what it is, but it's like giving up. Even if I just had a knife left, I'd rather die charging an enemy with that, rather than suicide.

Also, there are times, when you run around a corner and get blown up by an incoming tank. I already pick AT class, and my spawn point, only to get revived in the last few seconds.

It's certainly not a huge problem, but I definitely say 'oh crap' every once in a while when I'm waiting for that respawn and I suddenly get revived back infront of that tank.
