well gents, the lag had officially made it impossible for me to play Bf2. I knew it wou;d happen sometime, my COmputer specs are significantly under whats meant for the game but I thought Id give it a try. Im surprised Ive lasted this long.
Its been fun, alot of great battles. Im going back to Bf42, My comp can hande that....

cya all around, maybe Ill upgrade my computer sometime, but atm I dont have the money. Ill still frequent the forums every once and a while......

Re: Im done

We do play more than BF2 here, ya know? Maybe try out some of our other games? Either way, TG will be here when you're ready to return

Re: Im done

Yea..you know..bf2 really enjoys extra RAM. And cheap ram can be had especially when some people have computers laying around ..Post your specs..seriously the online lag is mostly a RAM issue and can be fixed very cheap.....

Re: Im done

I don't want to hijack this but since you guys are already talking RAM...

I have a Soyo SY-P4I 845PE motherboard I bought from Gixxer and he threw in 512MB RAM. 3 RAM slots but only two can actively be used. I had two 512MB sticks already so where I am now is I have 1.5GB RAM but can only use 1GB of it. Not sure if another 512MB would make a noticeable difference but I hate having the extra 512MB just sitting there.

Anyone willing to trade a 1GB stick for 2 512MB sticks? Everything is PC2700.

Re: Im done

This game is a true ram whore. Maybe he only has 256mb-384mb? If so I can see, I see the problem even with 512, I get good frames, just loads slow with 512 dual channel ddr400.

Re: Im done

IM not at my computer ATM, so I cant post the specs(Im not a very big computer person) I would have to look them up when I get home(if I can find them)

But the question is, do I realy want to spend more money on just 1 game?

well since I cant contol my money, the answer is yes
maybe

Re: Im done

It's possible that just RAM might help and it won't expensive...especially if you get hours of fun out of the game.

One easy way to check your processor and RAM is to right click on 'My Computer' choose properties and hit the general tab.

For example mine says Inter pentium M 1.70Ghz 1.00GB of Ram. It's a laptop so it struggles with BF:2 but I have everything set to low and the lag became ok once I upgraded my RAM.

Also....Here is another little trick for optimizing BF:2

Ctrl-Alt-del and hit task manager. Look at your process list and see how many are running.

One thing I do to optimize is I sort the process list by user name and then I kill every process that was started by my log-in name. (except for the task.mgr.exe and explorer.exe)

the rest I leave alone. This will free up a lot of RAM also. Just a few tricks worth trying. I'm sure people on here will have more tips.

Re: Im done

For some reason, in my task manager, the user ID is blank for every single process, so I'm unable to easily identify which ones I can kill.
